Pork barbecue in Suyeong, Busan: Geobugi Dongne
In short
Geobugi Dongne Busan Namcheon Branch is a pork barbecue restaurant in Suyeong, Busan, where I compared aged samgyeopsal and ogyeopsal with kettle-cooked rice and doenjang jjigae. The self-serve banchan bar, separate burner for stew, roomy seating, and playroom were convenient, though there is no dedicated parking.

I visited Geobugi Dongne (거북이동네) Busan Namcheon Branch for samgyeopsal in Namcheon-dong. I compared aged samgyeopsal and aged ogyeopsal, then had kettle-cooked rice, doenjang jjigae, and soft-serve ice cream for dessert. Beyond the meat, the way I picked up banchan and the meal dishes also stood out.

Is the seating good for a family meal with children?
The restaurant was clean and comfortable, with relatively generous space between tables. Every table seats six, so even two people can use the space comfortably. There were room-style seats and a playroom for children, so it looked suitable for a meal with family or friends.

What did I order, and how much did it cost?
Besides aged samgyeopsal and aged ogyeopsal, the meat selection included pork neck, pork jowl, and pork skirt meat. I ordered the samgyeopsal and ogyeopsal together with rice and stew. Below are the order details and prices listed in the original post.
- Aged samgyeopsal: ₩5,490 per 100 g × 2
- Aged ogyeopsal: ₩5,990 per 100 g × 3
- Freshly cooked kettle rice for two: ₩4,000
- Doenjang jjigae for two: ₩4,000
- Soft drink: ₩2,000

What is available at the self-serve bar?
The self-serve bar had a variety of banchan (Korean side dishes) and sauces. It was convenient to take as much as I needed without having to ask for more whenever I ran short.

I could pair ssam (leaf wraps) and side dishes to my own taste. I liked changing the sauces as I ate the meat and trying each piece in a different combination.

How did aged samgyeopsal and aged ogyeopsal differ?
I first grilled the aged samgyeopsal on the grill. Once the outside was browned, its clean meat flavor went well with leaf wraps and side dishes.

The aged ogyeopsal had a chewier texture than the samgyeopsal. Alternating between the two let me compare their textures, and changing the side-dish and sauce combinations kept the meal from becoming repetitive.

How were the kettle-cooked rice and doenjang jjigae together?
The freshly cooked kettle rice was one of the dishes I was especially satisfied with that day. It was warm and fluffy, making it good with meat or doenjang jjigae. It made the meal feel more filling than eating meat alone.

There was a separate burner for keeping the doenjang jjigae warm while I ate. It made it easy to have the stew and rice between grilling the meat.

I added the nurungji (scorched rice) from the kettle rice to the doenjang jjigae and simmered it like doenjang sulbap. Instead of having it as sungnyung, I finished the meal this way, and personally enjoyed the combination.
Is there dessert after the meal?
I also had soft-serve ice cream after the meal. It was a nice cool, smooth way to finish after the meat, rice, and stew. I thought it was a dessert children would be happy to have, too.

What are the location, hours, and parking situation?
The address is 1F, 414 Suyeong-ro, Suyeong-gu, Busan, South Korea. The original post lists daily hours of 11:30–22:30, with last orders at 21:30. There is no dedicated parking.
Would I return for a family meal?
I would be willing to visit again. I enjoyed the difference in texture between the samgyeopsal and ogyeopsal, and the self-serve bar and separate stew burner made the meal convenient. The spacious seating and playroom also looked suitable for a family meal or dining with a larger group.
