Jamsil Station piercing shop for swapping tarnished piercings: Simkung

After wearing my piercings for so long, some had changed color and I was starting to get tired of them, so it felt like time to swap them out. My earlobe had also closed up from not wearing earrings for ages, so I decided to re-pierce it. I headed to Simkung Piercing (심쿵피어싱) in the Jamsil Station underground mall, known for trendy piercings at low prices and for piercing ears well. Here's my honest review of Simkung Piercing Jamsil.

Where is Simkung Piercing Jamsil, and what are its hours?

Simkung Piercing Jamsil is inside the Jamsil Station (Line 2) underground shopping center, about 115m from Exit 5, in the Junian alley across from Paris Baguette. It's open Tuesday–Sunday 11:00–21:00 and closed on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month.

Simkung Piercing Jamsil is part of a nationwide piercing chain, and you can buy all kinds of piercings and earrings here, from 14K gold to 925 silver and surgical steel. It was easy to find in the Jamsil Station underground mall, and I liked that it stays open late.

Can you see Simkung Piercing Jamsil's prices before going in?

There's a price list posted at the entrance, so you can check the prices before you even walk in. The prices were reasonable too. When prices aren't displayed it can be hard to know the exact cost, so being able to check ahead made me trust the place more.

The entrance also displays photos of piercings worn in all sorts of spots, which caught my eye. If you've been unsure where to get pierced, the photos are a nice reference for picking the style you want.

What piercings does Simkung Piercing Jamsil carry?

Inside the shop, piercings and accessories came in a huge range of designs: small ones, big statement pieces, drop styles, sets and linked styles. From small, easy-to-wear sizes to eye-catching large pieces and drop designs, there was plenty to browse by taste.

Piercing sets for wearing several at once

There were also products that come as a multi-piece set. I tend to wear several piercings in my ears, so I liked the sets better than picking each one separately. They're designed to go well together, so they look good worn together.

Linked and drop piercing designs

There were linked designs worn across two piercing spots, and a good variety of drop earrings too. If you like styles that connect two spots, these are worth a look. With so many designs, you get a wide range to choose from by taste.

Bracelets, necklaces, rings, and 14K gold and 925 silver pieces

Besides piercings, they sell bracelets, necklaces, rings and other accessories. The designs run from hip styles to feminine ones, so it's nice to browse by taste.

Along with good-value piercings, there was also a nice range of 14K gold and 925 silver pieces. Even the pricier ones had pretty designs that caught my eye.

In the middle of the shop, among all the displayed piercings, there's also a space for getting your ears pierced.

What replaced the tarnished piercings?

For one ear I picked two piercings and added a pearl earring on top. I deliberated for a long time, and when I couldn't decide what to wear on my earlobe, the owner recommended something in person and actively helped, which made choosing much easier.

All the piercings I chose were swapped in as new ones, and the ones I'd been wearing were put in a zip bag for me.

Does re-piercing a closed earlobe with a thick bar hurt?

I had my closed earlobe re-pierced here, and it was just a little sting, less than I expected, and they did it without hurting. Regular earrings can hurt when the back presses against the ear, so this time I decided to wear a piercing and chose a thick bar. After the piercing they explained aftercare carefully, and they neatly packed up my old piercings too, which I was happy about.

Simkung Piercing Jamsil has a wide variety of piercings at decent prices, so browsing is fun. I got my earlobe re-pierced after a long time and it hurt less than I expected, and the owner was kind and helpful. I also liked how carefully they handled everything from the piercing swap to aftercare.
