Haeundae Chinese restaurant: pork belly gochu japchae, Bueokgan
In short
Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is a Chinese restaurant on the second floor of a building in Marine City, Haeundae, Busan, with sea views from the window seats. The writer ordered pork belly gochu japchae (stir-fried peppers and pork) for 38,000 won, poached-egg pork belly ganjajang for 10,000 won and seafood jjamppong for 18,000 won, eating the jjamppong with rice instead of noodles and calling the seafood-packed broth better than hangover soup. Apart from slightly hard flower buns (steamed buns), Bueokgan delivered on both the view and the food.

This is Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch, a Haeundae favorite in Busan with the whole Marine City view laid out in front of you.
Two great spots in one day, that's me! Special menu items, upscale interior, and an ocean view too — let me introduce Bueokgan Chinese, a Marine City restaurant that made for a really pleasant meal.

Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch: hours and parking
Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is open 11:00–22:00, with a break time from 15:30–17:00 and last order at 20:30. No closed days. Park on the building's 1st floor and you get up to 90 minutes supported.
Come out of the parking lot, go left, and you'll see Songjeong Choego Pork Soup — enter through the door right next to it.

This is the 2nd floor of Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch, an authentic Chinese restaurant located in Marine City, Haeundae.

Right as you walk in there's a handwashing area and a waiting kiosk. I was number one in line, so I got in quickly.

Inside Bueokgan: a 100-pyeong hall, three private rooms and bubble lamps
Bueokgan Chinese is an upscale-feeling Chinese restaurant that adds its own sensibility and care to traditional cooking techniques.

The George Nelson bubble lamps, which feel both luxurious and warm, really caught my eye. With all the European furniture around the space, it felt less like a Chinese restaurant and more like a high-end furniture store.
Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is a spacious store, nearly 100 pyeong, and stays clean and comfortable. There are three private rooms, modern and upscale, good for families, couples, and group gatherings alike.
The kitchen is open, clean, and really spacious too!
Marine City sea view from window seats that open
My favorite part was the Marine City ocean view 💙 — the windows even open, so it feels like eating on a terrace, with the cool breeze on top. Pure healing.

What we ordered at Bueokgan and what it cost
- Five-layer gochu japchae (spicy pepper stir-fry) — ₩38,000
- Poached-egg five-layer ganjajang (black bean noodles) — ₩10,000
- Seafood jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) — ₩18,000

As a Bueokgan event, if you write a receipt photo review you get delicious eohyang mandu (fish-fragrant dumplings). (Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch — place page, reviews, write a review)

Danmuji (pickled radish) and jjasjai (pickled cucumber) come out as banchan. Soy sauce, vinegar, and chili powder are brought over if you ask.

Seafood jjamppong, 18,000 won: rice instead of noodles
Jjamppong rice has a cleaner, more refreshing broth than jjamppong with noodles, so I ordered the rice version again today.

Eating seafood jjamppong while looking out at the sea makes it look even more delicious, right? Haha. The ocean view is just so pretty.

Not a single noodle, just a mountain of seafood and vegetables. The broth is genuinely rich and refreshing. I was surprised how good it was from the first spoonful — completely my style!

The shrimp were big and chunky, and there was even octopus in there. A jjamppong that's spicy but also full of that clean, savory flavor from the seafood.

I honestly enjoyed this way more than most hangover soups!! If you're going for a hangover cure, you should definitely visit — and I recommend skipping the noodles for the seafood jjamppong rice, haha.

Pork belly gochu japchae, 38,000 won, with flower buns
Gochu japchae is something I always order at a Chinese restaurant. What sets Bueokgan Chinese apart is that the meat is five-layer pork belly. I've eaten a lot of gochu japchae, but this was my first time with five-layer pork belly... haha.

The vegetables stay crunchy and pair well with the chewy, mild taste of the pork belly. Four flower buns come with it — they were a bit hard, which was a shame, but the seasoning itself was so good it made up for it.

The nutty aroma and umami typical of stir-fried dishes, salty and spicy, made deeper by the pork belly, and it was perfectly seasoned eaten with the flower bun. Great to order when there are several people.

Poached-egg pork belly ganjajang, 10,000 won: noodles with a difference
The poached-egg five-layer ganjajang noodles literally come topped with a poached egg and loaded with five-layer pork belly. The black bean sauce isn't served separately — it's already poured on top.

The rich black bean paste had zero greasiness, and the sweetness of the onion paired really well with the nutty flavor of the pork belly.

Break the poached egg and mix it all together. Here's the distinctive thing about Bueokgan's ganjajang!! The noodles are completely different. It might be a love-it-or-hate-it thing, but for me it was a 'love it'! Thicker than the average neighborhood Chinese restaurant's noodles, with a chewy bite that genuinely reminded me of the jjajangmyeon noodles I had in China.
Is Bueokgan Chinese in Marine City worth a visit?
A great view plus great food — I left Bueokgan fully satisfied! From the upscale interior to the wide-open ocean, I ate well and enjoyed it 😊💙
Parking is supported too, with 90 minutes covered, so it was nice being able to eat slowly and leave without any pressure.
