Bossam restaurant in Daegu with pork jowl: Uldong Bossam
In short
Uldong Bossam is a Korean restaurant in Gyodong, Jung-gu, Daegu, serving individual bossam sets and boiled pork jowl. We ordered the basic bossam set, the meat-heavy set for 10,900 and 12,900 won, plus potato pancake. Verdict: the tender pork jowl made the meat-heavy set the standout.

There are so many great places to eat in Gyodong, but today was one of those days when I was craving meat! I visited the newly opened Uldong Bossam, close to Daegu City Hall's Dongin office.
Uldong Bossam in Gyodong: location and hours

A Gyodong restaurant with a filling bossam (boiled pork wraps) set meal.

Where did we park?

Since we visited on the weekend, parking at City Hall was free, so there was a line of cars waiting to park. After waiting 20 minutes, I decided this wasn't it and headed straight to the Kakao Dongin Paid Parking Lot next door!

We parked easily at the Kakao Dongin Paid Parking Lot. Address — 6 Dongin-dong 2-ga, Jung-gu, Daegu. After eating for about an hour, the fee was ₩2,500. I chose it because I could park comfortably even if I had to pay.
A spacious, warm dining room

The first thing I noticed when I walked in was that the restaurant was more spacious and tidy than expected, which made for a nice first impression. Decorated mainly in wood tones, it had an overall warm feel.

The tables were comfortably spaced too, and the atmosphere worked well for anything from a solo meal to eating with friends or a family dinner out.

The kitchen is open, so you can catch a glimpse of the food being made. Overall, it felt very clean and well maintained.
Ordering bossam sets and potato pancake

We ordered by table ordering, and Uldong Bossam's signature menu is the bossam set! The bossam set was ₩10,900, while the meat-heavy set was ₩12,900. There were also nice add-on dishes such as bossam, suyuk-jeongol (boiled pork hot pot), and potato pancake. We ordered the basic bossam set, the meat-heavy set, and potato pancake!

A bossam set meal filling the table

Our bossam set meals arrived 😍 Each individual set was piled high and looked so appetizing.

The side dishes included saeujeot (salted shrimp), onion sauce, ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), seasoned bean sprouts, and green vegetables, all great with the meat.

There was also a bowl with sesame seeds and a pestle. A staff member told us to grind the sesame seeds, add the soy sauce on the table, and dip the meat in it.

A doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew), perfect with bossam, came with the meal too, and it was delicious with tofu and meat inside. Having a warm stew alongside the bossam made it feel much more substantial as a full meal.

The bossam set combines pork, mumallaengi (dried shredded radish), and minari (water celery). The difference with the meat-heavy set is that it adds boiled pork jowl!!

With bossam, the condition of the meat is everything, and I liked that this pork was moist and tender. It wasn't overly dry, and the lean meat and fat were nicely balanced, making each slice easy to enjoy.

Everyone, please! Get the meat-heavy bossam set!!

The pork jowl was really tender, with barely any of that distinctive boiled-pork smell, and it practically melted in my mouth.

The bossam itself was especially mild and clean-tasting, so the flavor balance was great with kimchi or the accompanying side dishes.

Crispy, moist potato pancake with cheese
And the potato pancake, which I ordered without high expectations, was delicious! They sprinkled the cheese powder on right away, making it look even more appetizing. A visual win worthy of a Dongseong-ro favorite 👍🏻

It was crispy outside and moist inside, and the cheese on top made it a little different from a typical potato pancake—delicious almost like vegetable fritters. Definitely try it as a side with the bossam~
A meal remembered for its boiled pork jowl

It would be a good option when you're looking for somewhere to eat around Dongseong-ro but want something a little different, and since it is near City Hall, it seems like it would make a filling weekday lunch for office workers too. Personally, the moist, wonderfully tender boiled pork jowl was what I remembered most. When you're craving bossam in Daegu's Gyodong, I recommend stopping by Uldong Bossam.
