I was looking for a bar near Isu Station when I heard about one with floor seating, so I went to Rainbow Pocha Isu Branch on a weekday evening. When we got there, the platform seats out front were already packed with customers, so sadly we couldn't sit there, and my friend and I settled into a window-side seat on the 1st floor!

I heard Rainbow Pocha Isu Branch is an unusual bar near Isu Station where you can have gopdoritang (spicy braised chicken with beef intestines) and boneless chicken feet in one go, so I went straight there on a Friday evening! The weather was cool, and you know those days when you just want a drink with great snacks in an open-air pocha (street-tent pub) mood or on a platform seat?

Come out of Isu Station Exit 11 and turn into the alley behind the Isu Miro sign, and you'll spot the Rainbow Pocha sign hanging on the 2nd floor. (It's the sign I marked with a heart ❤ in the photo.)

The white sign has a rainbow-colored fan-shaped logo in the middle, so the place wasn't hard to find.

The 1st floor has folding windows left open, so you can see inside from the street. Walk past the terrace platform seats out front and go in through the entrance. (It's to the right of the heart emoji in the photo.)

The 1st floor of Rainbow Pocha Isu Branch is open-style, with folding chairs at stainless steel tables, and a baseball game was playing on a big screen.

The corner window seat we took had the whole window opened up, so we could see the signs of the shops across the way and people walking along the alley. Fresh outside air came right in, so even though we were indoors, it felt like sitting at an outdoor pub.

There are over 60 items in all, including fritters, dry snacks and bingsu, so there was plenty to choose from whether you come for a first round or a second.

How was the chicken-feet gopdoritang?

As soon as we sat down at Rainbow Pocha Isu Branch, a complimentary snack of sweet potato fry sticks arrived. They were thinly shredded and fried, crispy and sweet, perfect for downing a glass of soju while the stew came to a boil.

The chicken-feet gopdoritang (₩39,900) is a spicy stew of boneless braised chicken with boneless chicken feet and Hanwoo (Korean beef) daechang (small intestine) added.

When it first came out, the white daechang was piled high with chives, enoki mushrooms and glass noodles, so it looked hearty.

As it boiled, the daechang turned golden and its fat seeped into the broth, making it richer and nuttier.

The boneless chicken feet were chewy and easy to pick up, and the 30% spiciness was pleasantly zesty, so both of us ate without any trouble. At the end, I mashed the broth into the well-cooked potato and ate that,

and slurped up the seasoned glass noodles from my small plate too. Eaten with the potato and daechang, they were mild and nutty, and that's what I remember most!

Is the chicken-feet gopdoritang enough for 2 people?
