Japanese restaurant in Geumjeong, Busan: sushi lunch with Mom

For my birthday, I went to Moshimoshi Busan National University Branch (모시모시 부산대점) with my mom, who loves sushi. I had also visited when I was in high school, so it was lovely to eat there again in the same spot.

What was the restaurant like at weekday lunch?

I went during weekday lunch, and it was nearly full. The country-of-origin information was neatly displayed, and I could also watch the food being prepared inside.

What menu options are there for a family meal?

There were several set menus, so it seemed suitable for a meal shared by someone who likes sushi and someone who prefers sashimi.

There were also à la carte dishes and individual sushi, as well as a separate children’s menu. I thought it would be easy for family members to choose according to their tastes.

What came with the Hoe Hansang set?

That day, we ordered “Hoe Hansang (The Better One),” a sashimi set meal. It was neatly served as one spread, and the selection was more generous than I expected.

The sashimi included tuna, salmon, and flounder. I liked being able to enjoy several things together rather than eating sushi alone.

The sushi included flounder, salmon, flounder fin, tuna, shrimp, abalone, and eel. The pieces were not small, so taking one bite made my mouth feel full; I liked that.

Which sushi stood out most?

The flounder was chewy, while the salmon had a texture that seemed to melt softly.

My favorite was the flounder fin. It was pleasantly chewy with a distinctive texture, and I especially enjoyed it.

I also enjoyed the tuna, and the flying fish roe on the shrimp sushi popped as I chewed, which made it fun to eat.

I had the abalone sushi too, and finished with eel. There was a nice variety, so it was enjoyable to try each one.

How were the side dishes and portion size?

The tempura included kabocha squash, shrimp, and sweet potato. It was crisp outside and soft inside, making it easy to pick up a piece or two between sushi.

Salad and tofu were served as well.

Udon with a rich broth also came with the meal. Taking bites of udon while eating sushi went well together. As we worked through everything, both my mom and I said we were full by the end.

Was lunch with my mom satisfying?

I was happy that my mom, who loves sushi, enjoyed her meal. She even finished the sashimi I had left. Along with sashimi and sushi, we could have tempura and udon, so I felt it would suit a family meal where everyone wants to try different dishes.

On the way out after paying, I picked up a mint candy prepared at the entrance. It was nice for freshening up after such a filling meal.
