Did you know Daegu is famous for peanut bread?? I only found out on this Daegu trip. The main store is at Seomun Market, but I heard there was a direct store in Beomeo-dong, so we visited that one!

Compared with when I traveled around Daegu with my university friend (an older girl) on a Naeil-ro rail pass, the city has become a huge metropolis, just like Seoul?! The store sits among cram schools, and I saw lots of students walking by.

I could smell something nutty even before crossing the crosswalk, and the bread smell got stronger the closer I got to the shop~

The store has no parking lot of its own, so if you're getting takeout, it's best to reserve by phone first. The egg bread and peanut bread must be Daesin's cute mascots 🤗

The store is set up like a highway rest stop, and you can sample black peanuts and roasted peanuts.

The black peanuts had a really strong nutty flavor, and the roasted peanuts were nuttier than any peanuts I usually eat, so my expectations for the peanut bread went up 👆👆

For drinks, there's sikhye (sweet rice drink) and peanut latte. The peanut butter would make a good gift for a peanut lover.

The egg bread (gyeran-ppang) looked so good that I was curious and thought about getting one, but we'd just had lunch, so I passed 😭

Reserving 80 peanut breads by phone: how are they made?

I phoned ahead to order 80 peanut breads at Daesin Peanut Bread Beomeo Direct Store, and they packed them in a box for us. The peanut bread is the reason we came 🥜🥜

The owner was making peanut bread, so I filmed it 🎥🎥. He puts roasted peanuts into the special peanut bread mold, pipes the batter neatly, closes it, and takes it out when the timer goes off. Seeing how many peanuts he used got me even more excited 🆙🆙

There are tables inside, so you can eat right there. I bet students, who get hungry fast while they're growing, would feel well fueled with egg bread and sikhye before cram school 😋

How does Daesin's peanut bread taste?

Contrary to my guess that it would be moist like bread, Daesin's peanut bread was crispy like a jeonbyeong (thin rice wafer). The car filled with the nutty smell, and even though everyone was full, we each popped one in our mouths.

Huh??! I thought it would be soft and moist like bread since it was warm, so the crispy, wafer-like texture surprised me. The peanuts weren't soggy at all, but crunchy and nutty, and there were lots of them, so everyone was shocked!!

Even the baby took one bite, said it was yummy, and kept reaching out for more, haha

Does it stay crispy after a few hours?

Daesin's peanut bread kept its crispy texture for hours after packing. I filmed it in more detail once we got to the guesthouse~ We ate over 10 in the car and still had plenty left, and since we went to a café and then the guesthouse after packing, several hours had passed, yet it was still crispy.

The center is moist and splits softly, and there are so many peanuts, right??! It looked like at least 5–6 in each one.

What about iced peanut bread from the fridge?

I heard the iced peanut bread version is delicious too, so I put some in the fridge instead of the freezer and ate it later. It gained some moistness and was soft, and the chilled feel was a different experience from when it's hot 👍
