Hanwoo BBQ for groups up to 40 in Suseong, Daegu: parking, Jangpro

In short

Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal (장프로한우갈빗살) is a charcoal-grill Korean BBQ restaurant on Deuran-gil (Deuran-ro) in Suseong, Daegu, that serves only hanwoo (Korean native beef) and no other domestic beef. The writer ordered the large galbitsal (rib finger meat) plate (500g), hanwoo sirloin makgui (100g for 11,900 won) and hanwoo rib doenjang (soybean paste) stew. The writer also confirmed group seating for up to 40, a private parking lot behind the building, free corkage and a self-serve bar. Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal is a solid pick for a team or group dinner when you want hanwoo at a reasonable price.

What is Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal like?

Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal (장프로한우갈빗살) is a hanwoo charcoal-grill restaurant on Deuran-gil in Suseong, Daegu. It doesn't handle dairy-cow beef at all, only hanwoo (Korean native beef). When hanwoo crosses your mind, the price is often the first worry, but this place let me enjoy proper hanwoo at a more comfortable price than I expected. Best of all, since it only sells hanwoo, I could eat with confidence!

Can you hold a group dinner here? Parking and group seating

Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal has plenty of group seating and, I'm told, can hold up to 40 people. There's also a large private parking lot behind the restaurant, so coming by car was easy.

Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal menu and prices

The menu covers a good range, from galbitsal (rib meat) to sirloin, flower rib meat, salchisal (chuck flap), saeusal and anchangsal (skirt). The hanwoo sirloin makgui (casually grilled sirloin) is ₩11,900 per 100g, which is a real bargain given hanwoo prices these days!

Side dishes and the self-serve bar

Lettuce wraps, assorted vegetables and side dishes were laid out in good variety, enough that even the older folks would be happy 😊

I also liked that there's a dedicated self-serve bar, so you can grab the side dishes you need without feeling awkward about asking.

The sides come out neatly from the start: pickled onion, pickled radish, scallion kimchi, corn salad, wrap vegetables and more. Great with meat, nothing missing, and it all felt tidy overall!

How was the large galbitsal plate (500g)?

That day at Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal we ordered the large galbitsal plate (500g) and the hanwoo sirloin makgui.

The galbitsal large plate came first and looked great from the start. It was piled generously on the plate, and the marbling looked good, so my expectations went up.

Honestly, the price is so low that I didn't expect much, but once I tasted it, it was better than expected!! Tender texture, plenty of juice, and that nutty hanwoo flavor really came through. I could see why it's a popular dish.

What about the hanwoo sirloin makgui?

The hanwoo sirloin makgui we ordered alongside was also better than expected. It's easier to enjoy without worrying about the cost than regular sirloin, and its nutty beef aroma gave it a different charm from the galbitsal.

Hanwoo sirloin makgui grilling over charcoal

Grilled over charcoal, the ratio of fat to lean was just right and the flavor was so good ❣️ It wasn't too greasy yet stayed tender, so my chopsticks kept going back.

Grilled just right and dipped in nothing but salt, it was delicious, and with the pickled onion I could keep eating without feeling heavy.

Mmm, the hanwoo browned over the charcoal picked up a proper smoky flavor, and the aroma alone was special. The moment I took a bite the juices burst out and it melted softly. Hanwoo is hanwoo! No words needed 🤤🥩

There was a good variety of vegetables and sauces too, so I could dip in salt, make wraps, or pair it with side dishes. Every bite was a different combination, and I never got tired of it 🌿

Beef without a drink just feels wrong, right? 🍻 A bite of nutty hanwoo followed by a cold drink was a really good match.

Lightly grilled hanwoo sirloin makgui

The sirloin makgui is leaner and milder than the galbitsal, so it was easy to enjoy, and a good way to load up on protein for anyone dieting or working out 💪

To finish: hanwoo rib doenjang stew

After eating a good amount of meat at Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal, we also ordered the hanwoo rib doenjang stew (soybean paste stew). A big rib bone sits in it whole, which caught the eye right away, and the broth was rich and savory.

It had much more depth than the doenjang stew at an ordinary BBQ restaurant, and the spicy kick of the broth made it a perfect finish after meat.

It's packed with tofu and vegetables too, so it felt less like a simple afterthought and more like a filling meal in its own right 🍲
