American Southern food culture and flavors, right here in Jeju~ Looking for a place with an exotic vibe where you can enjoy mac and cheese chicken!

There used to be a big Southern American home-style restaurant up on the mountain side near the 1100 Road, and I was sad when it closed. So I went and found a cozy, American, exotic-vibe spot perfect for cold beer with fried chicken or a meal-and-drinks session. Brand new, fresh-off-the-press store.

Where is Dixie's, where do you park, and how far is it from Jeju Airport?

Dixie's sits across from a public parking lot, past Jeju Jungang-ro Hanpyeong Park. If you're also stopping by the Mu Uptown-dong branch or the pickup café, note that the same public parking lot is just down the alley — handy since those two spots are takeout-only, making this a convenient meal stop nearby.

It's about a 10-minute drive from the airport. Park right in front at the Jeju Jungang-ro Shopping Street public lot. Note: parking is paid, first 30 minutes free, ₩1,000 for the first overage period, ₩500 per additional 15 minutes, and ₩10,000 for a full day.

Inside Dixie's: six tables, the music, and no-kids-zone hours after 6pm

Dixie's screams American from the outside. The sky-blue exterior and Western-style interior caught my eye right away. There's a menu posted at the entrance, so I glanced it over before going in. The inside was even better.

It's all wood interior, a cozy space with about six tables. I walked in at the 11:30 opening and could sit anywhere I wanted, but by noon it was completely full. Expect a wait during lunch hours, and although I didn't visit during the after-work evening slot, I'd guess it's busy then too.

There's also a house rule to note: it operates as a no-kids zone after 6pm, meaning no one 13 or under is admitted.

It's an open kitchen where you can watch the basic prep happening. Worth seeking out as a Jeju handmade-burger spot where the owner cooks Southern food personally.

Along with the interior, the country soul background music filling the space really amps up that exotic atmosphere.

Dixie's uses a phone-based ordering system. There's a printed menu, but scanning your phone brings up a lot more options.

What we ordered at Dixie's: the mac and chicken burger set and dirty rice

I ordered the Mac & Cheese Burger set (₩18,900) and Dirty Rice (₩14,900).

Dirty rice, 14,900 won

Dirty Rice is a Louisiana soul food dish, a stir-fried rice mixed with beef and sausage. The rice looked like calrose-style long grain, stir-fried and topped with what I think was radish greens or dried greens — not entirely sure — plus pickled onion strips.

A squeeze of lime juice added a bright citrus note that lifted the fluffiness of the rice — it was delicious.

Nashville Mac & Chicken Burger set, 18,900 won

Solo is ₩15,900. The set adds fries and a drink.

Between soft, pillowy buns sat a thick, freshly fried, crispy fried chicken patty piled high with mac and cheese. Since it's handmade, I noticed the version at the next table looked even more impressive than mine — the grass is always greener, haha! I turned it around trying to figure out how to eat it, then cut it in half. The cross-section revealed just how thick and mouthwatering it was.

And that's what mac and cheese should taste like. Totally my style! The macaroni was unlike anything I'd had before. You should try it^^

Is Dixie's in Jeju worth a lunch stop?

A good spot to swing by for a meal after stopping at Mu Uptown or the pickup café. Dixie's brings Southern American food to Jeju, everything handmade by the owner — brining, seasoning, aging, all of it. Casual vibe, great music, great flavors — an all-around enjoyable meal. Recommended as a top Jeju burger-and-chicken spot.
