What we ordered at Dutumhoe: assorted sashimi, coconut fried shrimp, salmon sushi

Dutumhoe's shop had a wide range, from white-fleshed fish like flatfish and rockfish to salmon and fried items, and we packed three things: assorted sashimi, coconut fried shrimp, and salmon sushi. Once you order, they generously pack an ice pack along with sauces like chojang (vinegar-chili sauce) and wasabi soy sauce.

Still fresh after a 1-hour drive to the accommodation

Even after carrying the takeout sashimi for over an hour to the accommodation, everything was exactly as fresh as when we left. I was worried about temperature control since it was summer in Jeju, but the ice-pack packing seemed to have done the job.

Honestly, since it took over an hour to reach the accommodation, I worried the freshness might drop along the way, and temperature control felt like a real concern for a summer Jeju trip.

But when we opened the package at the accommodation, I was genuinely surprised to find everything just as fresh as when we picked it up.

It really seems to have come down to the solid ice-pack packing.

How the Dutumhoe takeout tasted

Coconut fried shrimp: good even cooled and eaten plain

The reaction to Dutumhoe's coconut fried shrimp was so good that my kid pulled one out in the car and gave a thumbs up before we even got there. Even eaten cold back at the accommodation, it was plenty good without any chili sauce.

The first thing we opened was the coconut fried shrimp.

Actually, my kid couldn't resist in the car on the way to the accommodation and pulled one out early, declaring "this is really good" with a big thumbs up.

I had mine already cooled off once we got to the accommodation, and even without dipping it in chili sauce, it was plenty tasty on its own.

The shrimp itself was thick and meaty, so you could really feel the bite from the first chew. Being fried in coconut seemed to make it even crispier.

If we'd eaten it fresh out of the fryer, I imagine it would have been even better.

Assorted sashimi: one plate for a family with different tastes

Dutumhoe's assorted sashimi came out generously loaded with several kinds on one plate, perfect for a family with different tastes to pick and choose. The sashimi was firm and springy, so the texture really came through.

The assorted sashimi was great because it packed a variety of types onto one generous plate.

When you're traveling as a family, everyone tends to like different kinds of sashimi, so having an assortment meant everyone could pick what they liked.

Salmon sushi: thick salmon with a well-balanced amount of rice

Dutumhoe's salmon sushi had noticeably thick, vividly colored salmon. The ratio of rice to fish was just right for a good single bite.
