Ara-dong, Jeju Western restaurant for a kid-free date lunch: Cultured

In short

Cultured (컬쳐드) is a Western restaurant on Seungcheon-ro in Ara-dong, Jeju City, whose lunch set of pizza, salad and pasta costs 38,500 won. After a first visit with their kids, the couple returned to Cultured on their own for raw salmon salad, shrimp rosé pasta and margherita pastry pizza, and packed the leftover pizza as a snack for the kids. The raw salmon salad and thick, creamy shrimp rosé pasta make Cultured's lunch set good value and worth another visit.

Today it's a Jeju place I had to come back to! The first time we went with the kids, and this time it was just the two of us, so let me introduce Cultured (컬쳐드), a great restaurant in Ara-dong, Jeju. 😄

Cultured is a Western restaurant on the ground floor along the main road of Seungcheon-ro in Ara-dong, Jeju City, and for parking you can use the public lot right behind the building or park along the road. It's already famous as a Jeju local favorite, so you've probably passed it many times on the Ara-dong main road. Lots of people park roadside too.

Cultured lunch set information

What's in the Cultured lunch set, and how much is it?

The Cultured lunch set can be ordered from 11:00 to 13:50, and for ₩38,500 you get pizza, salad, and your choice of pasta or rice. Dessert comes on top of that as a freebie!! No wonder it has over 2,800 reviews.

We arrived around 12:30 and lots of guests were already eating. And more kept coming in.

On one side of Cultured there's a table set up for about 8–10 people to eat together. There are high chairs and disposable aprons too. Most tables seat 2 or 4.

The Cultured lunch set lets you choose from a wide range of menu items. The pizza is gorgonzola by default, but if you pick another pizza you only pay ₩2,000 extra.

I ordered the salmon salad, the shrimp rosé pasta and the margherita pastry pizza. For dessert drinks we got an iced americano and a cola!

If you also write a Naver receipt review, you can get vanilla ice cream or an affogato as a freebie.

Is Cultured's raw salmon salad really fresh?

The first dish to arrive, Cultured's salmon salad, even comes with raw salmon. They say the salmon is caught fresh 2–3 times a week and then cured in salt and in kelp (dasima) before it's served.

Wow... it was really fresh and so delicious! To get salmon of this quality at this price! If you like salmon, you have to order this.

Soon after, the shrimp rosé pasta came out. The sauce is thick and creamy, and it's really good.

Margherita pastry pizza and adjusting the spice level

Next came the margherita pastry pizza! The pizzas at Cultured are all delicious too! You can also adjust the spice level, so on our last visit I ordered the pepperoni pizza non-spicy and our second child enjoyed it too.

The margherita pastry pizza in particular is loaded with natural cheese, so even when it cools the cheese stays soft and stretchy and you can still taste its flavor. The crispy dough is simply a work of art.

Another good thing about Cultured is that dishes with shrimp really come with plenty of shrimp! And they're such big king prawns that the texture is amazing.

The salmon salad also comes with a sour sauce and wasabi, which made it even tastier.

The salad comes with plenty of fresh vegetables too, and I really enjoyed it. I like salmon anyway, but even my husband, who isn't much of a salmon fan, said it was so good and ate it happily.

Cultured shrimp rosé pasta: flavor and spice levels

Cultured's shrimp rosé pasta was thick and creamy, and it was even better because they put in the ingredients so generously! Honestly every single dish was delicious, the kind of taste both kids and adults would like.

The rosé pasta's spice can be adjusted up to 3 levels, and the tomato sauce simmered for 5–6 hours blends so well with milk and fresh cream that it was the best.

I think I'd order the salmon salad again next time too! I'm curious about the other salads, haha, but we really scraped this one clean.

Lunch set dessert of cola and coffee

Dessert drinks and packing up leftover pizza

We properly enjoyed the lunch set's dessert, with cola and coffee. Cultured's americano is even better than at regular cafés, so don't go spend extra money at a café for nothing!

We had pizza left over, so we packed it up, took it home and gave it to the kids as an evening snack, and they ate it up! They were a little sulky that only mom and dad went, haha. Next time we'll go back with the kids. If you're looking for a good restaurant in Ara-dong, Jeju, give Cultured a visit.
