Korean bar in Dal-dong, Ulsan: 1 a.m. squid and pork stir-fry, Judalli

In short

Judalli is a Korean bar in the middle of Dal-dong, Nam-gu, Ulsan, whose signature dish is ojebokkeum, a combo of squid stir-fry and spicy pork stir-fry. The writer went to Judalli at 1 a.m. with a friend visiting from Gimpo; the two finished 4 bottles of soju, and the friend, eating his first meal of the day, praised the food highly. The writer went in with no expectations and was still thinking about Judalli a day later, which makes it a strong pick for a late-night drink in Dal-dong.

Judalli, a Dal-dong bar in Ulsan: how was the ojebokkeum?

Judalli (주달리) is a bar in Dal-dong, Ulsan, and its ojebokkeum, squid stir-fry and spicy pork stir-fry served together, left an impression. Personally I went in without much expectation, and it turned out more satisfying than I thought, so it stuck with me. Honestly, I didn't expect the food to be that good, but the squid and pork collab is no joke. My friend came down from Gimpo and Judalli was his first meal here, and he said it was really delicious and praised it a lot ^^

Add that kind of vibe, and sitting around talking with a friend over drinks is just really nice, personally. I think having lots of different conversations is one of the most important things about a drinking session. My friend came a long way, and he said that being in a place like this reminded him of the hard days preparing for the civil service exam, and it felt even more rewarding. He also said that to feel more, you have to go to more places.

Where Judalli is and what it's like late at night

Judalli is in the middle of Dal-dong, inside the building, so it's not that hard to find. It keeps running even after other places close, so we went at 1 a.m., and it was amazing to see customers keep coming in after that. All in all, the vibe is great!

Judalli's menu: what to order first

Judalli's menu is kept simple, which I think makes it better. Doing only what you do really well beats doing a bit of everything. The jeyuk-bokkeum is the main dish, and there are also several kinds of tang (hot soup) after that. If it's your first time, try the jeyuk-bokkeum first, then enjoy the other dishes. It's really good!

Yes, being delicious is hard. Food that's good for lots of people is one thing, but food that's good for people looking for a drinking spot is really difficult, and Judalli seems to pull it off. Making food that all kinds of people enjoy is hard, and finding that middle ground strikes me as impressive. I think making something like this is really difficult.

What are Judalli's interior and service like?

Judalli has soft, moody lighting and tables in several layouts, so there was plenty of space for two people to drink. The place is nicely decorated and the staff member was friendly, and it turned out he was the owner. He was full of energy and served us kindly, which I liked.

Four bottles of soju for two, a Dal-dong bar with customers until dawn

The two of us drink quite a lot, so we had four bottles of soju at Judalli and then headed straight home. The atmosphere is good and the setup is good, and the plus is that you can have a quick drink and still eat food this tasty. Word of mouth like this seems to be why people kept showing up in the early hours, and honestly I'd never seen a bar like that. Plenty of bars stay open late, but not many keep getting customers that late.

I was genuinely satisfied with Judalli, and I think all kinds of people will come here. Adding to the vibe, I think it matters that such a clean interior still gives off a variety of moods.

A good place for a last drink in Dal-dong

Judalli is a place that feels right for ending the day with a drink. I don't think Dal-dong has many places like this. Staying open until 4 a.m. and trying to show more, I think those are the reasons it's loved more.
