Goyang hangover soup restaurant to skip Starfield waits: Jeju
In short
Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch is a Jeju-style haejangguk (hangover soup) restaurant in Samsong-dong, Goyang, near Starfield Goyang. On a day her husband needed a hangover cure, the writer ordered one bowl of haejangguk and a haejangguk plus dombegogi (Jeju-style boiled sliced pork) set for 20,000 won; the dombegogi was tender with no gamey smell, and the haejangguk, with seonji (congealed ox blood), dadaegi (spicy chili paste) and glass noodles, was spicy and refreshing. Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk is a good place for a meal outside Starfield Goyang when the waits for restaurants inside run long.

Where to get haejangguk near Starfield Goyang?
When I want haejangguk (hangover soup) near Starfield Goyang, I go to Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch. When we visit Starfield Goyang we sometimes eat at the food court, but the popular restaurants inside have such long waits that it's often better to eat outside first, haha.
This time we weren't out at Starfield — my husband just needed to cure a hangover. The haejangguk here is genuinely spicy and refreshing, honestly one of the best spots for that.

How much are the set menus?
The set menus, all including dombegogi (boiled sliced pork), range from ₩20,000 to ₩34,000. There are only three main dishes — haejangguk, tripe soup, and braised cutlassfish — plus dombegogi and seasoned radish as sides.
- Haejangguk + dombegogi – ₩20,000
- Tripe soup + dombegogi – ₩20,000
- Braised cutlassfish + haejangguk or tripe soup + dombegogi – ₩34,000
- Dombegogi + seasoned radish – ₩20,000
We always order haejangguk or tripe soup and add dombegogi as a side, or just get the set. The wall by the kitchen has the country-of-origin labels displayed in large text, which was easy to check.

We ordered one haejangguk plus a haejangguk-dombegogi set
This time we ordered one bowl of haejangguk and one haejangguk-dombegogi set. If you're really hungry, get dombegogi on its own; if haejangguk alone feels like it's not quite enough, the dombegogi set is a good call, haha.
How was the dombegogi?
The dombegogi included in the set came out first — at Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch it has no gamey smell at all, and it's soft and delicious.

What's in the haejangguk here?
The haejangguk comes with chili paste and beef blood, though you can ask to leave those out. Right as we were digging into the dombegogi, the haejangguk arrived!
We always order it as is, with nothing removed. There are two big chunks of beef blood and plenty of chili paste, so it's nice and spicy.
Whenever I see beef blood in haejangguk, it reminds me of going to a makchang (grilled intestines) place with a friend in college, haha. Back then that place gave you a free bowl of beef blood haejangguk with refills... sadly it's closed now, which is a shame.

A spicy broth that cures a hangover even without drinking
The haejangguk is spicy and refreshing, so good over rice that you finish a whole bowl without noticing. My husband needed it that day, but I hadn't even had a drink the night before and still somehow felt properly 'cured,' lol.
Every time I visit Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk I order the haejangguk, while my husband picks between haejangguk and tripe soup. The haejangguk has glass noodles in it, and since I love noodles, I prefer it, haha.
Rice refills are available, but the soup is so packed with ingredients that one bowl of rice was plenty filling, so we skipped the refill!
Braised cutlassfish next time
Next time I visit Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch, I want to try the braised cutlassfish, haha. The table next to us ordered the boneless version and it looked easy to eat and delicious!
