Yeonnam-dong café for raspberry cream cheese terrine: Jitheunsan

It was a rainy day, and I'd made a lunch plan with my younger sister. After eating at a Yeonnam-dong restaurant, we stopped by this lovely dessert café, and I'm going to tell you all about it!! It was close to Gotit Yeonnam (갓잇 연남점), where we had lunch, and it was so cozy and had such a great atmosphere haha

Jitheunsan location and opening hours in Yeonnam-dong

Jitheunsan (짙은산) is a Yeonnam-dong dessert café at 27 Seongmisan-ro 29an-gil, 1st floor, Mapo-gu, Seoul. It is open daily 08:30–23:00, with last order at 22:30. It opens early in the morning and stays open late into the night. I bet it's lovely on a sunny day too, but visiting in the rain was so atmospheric and wonderful.

Jitheunsan terrine flavors and prices

Terrines at Jitheunsan start at ₩8,500, and you can choose between two shapes: square or cake. Here are the flavors they had.

• Chocolate terrine
• Mugwort injeolmi (rice cake) terrine
• Raspberry cream cheese terrine
• Matcha terrine
• Chestnut terrine
• Sweet potato terrine
• Oreo dwaejiba (pork-bar ice cream) terrine cake

Since there's a square shape and a cake shape, you can pick whichever slice you like. The square seemed a little smaller than the cake shape, so I guess that's why it's cheaper!! Terrines start at ₩8,500, and the raspberry cream cheese terrine I chose was ₩9,000!! The photo shows ₩8,500, but the owner told us the price had been written down wrong.

I knew Jitheunsan is famous as a terrine hotspot, so I'd decided I had to eat at least one terrine. They all looked so delicious that I agonized over it before finally picking one haha

Why I picked the raspberry cream cheese terrine

In front of the drink menu there are cute drawings along with a description of each terrine, which is really handy when you're choosing haha. The raspberry cream cheese terrine seemed to be a recent new item, and I figured the tanginess would taste great, so I went with the square raspberry cream cheese terrine.

It was Jitheunsan's 1st-anniversary event period, so ordering a square terrine came with ice cream, and eating the ice cream and terrine together was even more delicious haha. The anniversary event ended yesterday, so if you visit now, I guess you'll get just the square terrine without the ice cream!!

Can you go to Jitheunsan alone? Time limit and takeout discount

Usage time at Jitheunsan is limited to 2 hours, and if you leave your seat for more than 20 minutes it may be cleared, so keep that in mind!! It's also a good café to visit alone. On the day I went, quite a few people were there on their own.

On the 10th and 23rd of every month, takeout terrine dessert orders get a 15% discount, so takeout is a good idea too!! If I'm ever in Yeonnam-dong on the 10th or 23rd, I'm going to stop by Jitheunsan and take terrine home haha

How does Jitheunsan's raspberry cream cheese terrine taste?

We ordered a square raspberry cream cheese terrine for ₩9,000, an iced americano for ₩5,500 and a matcha Einspänner (matcha latte topped with cream) for ₩7,000. The square raspberry cream cheese terrine came with a square of ice cream haha

The raspberry cream cheese terrine was cold and smooth like ice cream, with a tangy raspberry plus dense cream cheese feel, so it was perfect as a dessert after a meal and I really enjoyed it haha

Iced americano and matcha Einspänner at Jitheunsan

Jitheunsan's iced americano uses beans without any sourness, which is exactly the kind of americano I like haha. An americano with dessert is the best, right!!

And the matcha Einspänner my sister ordered had a super smooth yet chewy cream on top, and when I tried a bite, it went perfectly with the matcha haha. The matcha was really strong, and my sister said it was delicious haha
