Mapo pizza restaurant with sweet potato bacon: Sunny's Pizza Market
In short
Sunny's Pizza Market is a pizza restaurant in Mapo, Seoul, where I tried a Smooth Potato and Sweet Potato Bacon half-and-half pizza. Generous toppings, soft cheese even when cool, and chewy dough stood out. Verdict: Sunny's Pizza Market is a must-try for sweet potato bacon pizza.

Sunny's Pizza Market in Yeonnam-dong: location and hours
2nd floor, 249 Donggyo-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul, South Korea Tue–Fri 11:00–22:00 Break time 14:30–17:00 Sat–Sun 12:00–22:00 Closed every Monday

I visited Sunny's Pizza Market, a popular pizza spot in Yeonnam-dong!

It's on the second floor above Nugu-na Holdak Banhann Dak Yeonnam branch, so just head up the stairs! There is a restroom on the half-floor landing on the way up, and it was super clean, so ladies, visit without worrying. You open it with a key rather than entering a passcode, which somehow felt even more reassuring haha.

A spacious, comfortable Yeonnam-dong pizza restaurant
The restaurant was much bigger and more comfortable than I expected! There were lots of cute little touches throughout too, so I would recommend it as a Yeonnam-dong date spot as well.

The large windows all around made it feel open rather than stuffy, which I loved! Plus, there was the fun of people-watching (?) You can help yourself to as much pickle and garlic dipping sauce as you want from the self-service bar.

There are cute little plates on the upper shelf for the pickles and dipping sauce, so just take as much as you can eat~! They were not those intensely sour, properly fermented pickles, but the sweet-and-tangy kind that suits Korean tastes, which I liked even more.

The dipping sauce came in individual packets, which I personally thought was very hygienic and nice. I packed up the leftover pizza, and taking one or two packets along was great too!

There was a large shelf to the left of the self-service bar, and it had everything you could need! The hot sauce and Parmesan cheese powder were individually packaged, and even disposable plastic gloves were neatly provided. There were napkins and wet wipes too, so use as much as you need. Of course, there were plates and utensils such as spoons, forks, and knives too. Ready to eat~~~!

A pizza spot selected for three consecutive years
I actually visited without knowing it was famous, but it turned out to be a restaurant selected by both Blue Ribbon Survey and Red Ribbon for a whopping three consecutive years! It cannot be easy to win recognition year after year... I was so excited. Okay, this really is a genuinely great Yeonnam-dong pizza spot.

Even though it was late, there were quite a few diners inside, and delivery and takeaway orders kept coming in. To give you the conclusion first: once I tasted it, I could totally see why people become regulars!

Sweet potato bacon and Smooth Potato half-and-half
Regular half-and-half (₩25,900) Smooth Potato / Sweet Potato Bacon We ordered a regular-size half-and-half.

We had seafood and wine for our first stop, then started craving a slightly sweet pizza, so we ordered the Sweet Potato Bacon!

They piled on such a generous amount of sweet potato mousse—so insanely good..! I think they use low-sodium bacon, because there was plenty of it but it was not salty. Sweet sweet potato + savory bacon, what more is there to say~

Garlic dipping sauce is essential with sweet potato bacon
And dipping sauce is essential with the Sweet Potato Bacon pizza!

Sweet, salty, nutty~ it is a combination that simply cannot taste bad. And the pizza cheese is seriously soft, like that famous pizza place in Busan. Some pizzas turn tough as they cool, but this one stayed completely soft and rich even when cold. I usually do not eat the crust, but the dough here was so chewy and delicious that I ate it all..

To emphasize it once more: with the Sweet Potato Bacon pizza, please dip it generously in the garlic dipping sauce! This combination is seriously wild~~! (P)

Smooth Potato piled high with mashed potato
Unlike a typical potato pizza, the Smooth Potato pizza did not have whole potato wedges on top—it was piled high with mashed potato! It was salty because it had lots of cheddar cheese. But as you can see in the photo, the toppings were much thicker than the dough, so it was sooo good.

Buffalo wings available from just four pieces
Buffalo Wings, 4 pieces (₩4,900) You cannot skip buffalo wings when you are having pizza~

Whenever I go out for pizza, I often just want a small taste of wings, but they are sold in portions that are too big to order. Here, though, I loved that they offered several options—4, 6, or 10 pieces. Freshly baked buffalo wings, what more can I say~ They are delicious haha.

Of all the famous Yeonnam-dong pizza spots, this one is number one..! I have never seen a place where the toppings were this much thicker than the pizza dough. And the dough itself was chewy and clean-tasting like wood-fired pizza, so I understood why there were so many delivery and takeaway orders. You absolutely have to try the Sweet Potato Bacon pizza at least once!
