Yeonnam-dong pasta restaurant with rich rosé sauce: Hey Joji
In short
Hey Joji is a pasta restaurant in Yeonnam-dong, Mapo, Seoul. I shared Cajun shrimp rosé pasta and white ragù truffle cream pasta, both with generous sauce and perfectly cooked noodles. Verdict: order the rosé and truffle cream together.

Finding Hey Joji in a Yeonnam-dong alley

Hey Joji is tucked away in an alley in Yeonnam-dong. Come out of Exit 3 at Hongik University Station, walk straight toward Yeontral Park, then head into the alley.
An interior that was roomier and cozier than expected

Once I stepped inside, it was much bigger and roomier than it looked from outside.

The interior is actually quite large. It feels spacious, comfortable, and cozy. The atmosphere was nice too, and people kept coming in even at an in-between time. It seems like a great place for a date or a meal with friends.

More than anything, the little side plates were so cute. The colors and lettering really caught my eye, haha.

You know soda is essential with pasta, haha. Actually, I don't drink soft drinks. My partner drank it all alone.

There were more seats than expected, and the tables were fairly far apart, so even with lots of people it didn't feel loud or hectic. I think it would make a nice Yeonnam-dong date stop too.
The rosé and truffle cream pasta we ordered

Hey Joji is a nice option for a Yeonnam-dong date. There were more pasta choices than I expected, and the prices were reasonable too!

Above all, the Cajun shrimp rosé pasta was seriously delicious... I almost wanted to know the secret to that rosé sauce.

The food came out quickly too, which was perfect for impatient, hungry me. The moment I took a bite of the truffle cream pasta, the truffle aroma wrapped around my mouth. The fragrance was stronger than expected, making it taste like a luxurious cream pasta. And the noodles were cooked just right.

Nothing could beat the rosé pasta
But nothing could beat the rosé pasta. The rosé sauce was so good that I want to go back just for this. If you come to Hey Joji, you have to try this rosé.

The pickled radish that came with it was tasty too. I got one refill, in fact~

What is there to say about this look? It couldn't possibly be bad-looking food. I loved that they thoughtfully topped the white ragù cream pasta with an egg yolk too.

Hey Joji's pasta portions were generous overall, and there was plenty of sauce, so we could enjoy it moist and saucy right to the last bite. My partner kept saying it was delicious too. (Their palate is pickier than mine..)

The rosé pasta had plenty of bacon and shrimp, so it was fun picking out bites. But honestly, the sauce was so good that I think anything in it would have tasted good, lol.

You know how it gets richer and thicker when you break that yolk over the top, haha. The cream pasta had lots of meat too, so it had a nice chew and tasted even better.

If you come to Hey Joji, I recommend trying this combination. Personally, if you like truffle, I recommend the cream pasta too! The truffle aroma was fairly strong, more than expected, but I enjoyed it~
If you're visiting with a group, I recommend definitely ordering these two, then trying a variety of other dishes too. Both the rosé and cream pasta were good, so they made me curious about the other menu items for no reason. They all seem like they'd be good.. The video was filmed after we'd eaten a bit, so the presentation is a little off, but it looked and tasted great in person.

Can you see that we scraped up every last bit of sauce from the plate? That's proof of how good it was.
I recommend Hey Joji as a great pasta spot in Yeonnam-dong and for a Hongdae date!
