Itaewon gamjatang restaurant: 12 pork bones in a large pot, Nuri Maeul
In short
Nuri Maeul Gamjatang Itaewon Branch is a 24-hour pork bone stew restaurant on the second floor right in front of Itaewon Station Exit 4 in Yongsan, Seoul. On a rainy day the large Nuri Gamjatang arrived with 10 to 12 potato bones and a pile of ugeoji (dried napa cabbage leaves), so filling that the finishing fried rice went untouched. With window seats, terrace seats and a wide dining hall, Nuri Maeul Gamjatang handles group dinners and late-night hangover meals alike.

Hi! It's Hoong-i. It was drizzling a little and I had a craving for hot gamjatang (potato bone stew) loaded with ugeoji (dried napa cabbage leaves) and pork bones, so I went to Nuri Maeul Gamjatang Itaewon Branch, an Itaewon gamjatang spot. If you're searching for 24-hour restaurants in Seoul or Itaewon, save this one!
Where Nuri Maeul Gamjatang Itaewon Branch is and when it opens
The address is 176 Itaewon-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and it's open 24 hours, every day of the year. There's no dedicated parking, but there's a paid lot right next door for ₩5,000 an hour.

It's right in front of Itaewon Station Exit 4, so it's super easy to find. Located on the 2nd floor, this Itaewon gamjatang spot only just opened — a piping-hot new place!

Inside the restaurant: a wide hall that fits big groups
The place is completely spotless and huge, great for group gatherings, and you probably won't need to worry about waiting for a table. It's the biggest restaurant I've seen in a while. Tons of tables and seriously wide open space.
This Itaewon gamjatang spot, Nuri Maeul Gamjatang — what you see in the video is maybe half the restaurant? It's genuinely massive. And the AC is blasting so it's nice and cool.

The tables are roomy too, and since it's a newly opened branch it's super clean — best best. The staff are friendly too, which makes it even better.

What else is on the menu besides gamjatang
It's not just gamjatang — there's ppyeo-jjim (steamed pork bones) and haejangguk (hangover soup) too, so you get options. Turns out it's also known as an Itaewon spot for ppyeo-jjim.

There's terrace seating too, and since it was raining, the gamjatang flavor felt even more alive with that view. This Itaewon gamjatang spot is perfect for a soju in broad daylight! I can't believe a gamjatang restaurant has such a nice view — having window seats is such a plus.

The self-serve bar: kimchi, kkakdugi and soy-marinated onions
You can help yourself to unlimited kimchi, kkakdugi (radish kimchi), and onion sauce. Nuri Maeul Gamjatang, a 24-hour restaurant in Seoul, is so generous.

The basic side dishes, kkakdugi and geotjeori (fresh cabbage kimchi), are tasty! If you're looking for a 24-hour restaurant in Itaewon, save this one — it's rare, truly rare.

How much food is in a large Nuri Gamjatang?
I ordered the large Nuri Gamjatang! It might not look that big at first, but the pot itself is genuinely enormous. I'll show you in a bit!

Nuri Maeul Gamjatang packs in a ton of bones and plenty of ugeoji, so there's no shortage at all! Good for a meal before hitting Itaewon, and good for a hangover cure before heading home afterward too.

Pretty amazing, right? The sheer volume alone fills you up, so it passes round one. I thought there was no way I'd finish it all, but... (it was so good I finished it anyway.)
Since the pot is so huge, it took a while to come to a boil — maybe 10 minutes?

How the bone meat and broth tasted
Tender, well-boiled potato bones — the meat falls right off with just a touch of chopsticks.

The broth is delicious, the meat is soft, and there's quite a lot of meat clinging to the bones too!

Pour that cool, spicy broth over and it goes great with the ugeoji too. I wasn't even that hungry, but seeing the gamjatang, I just lost control and kept eating.

That deep, rich broth is genuinely amazing. The pork bones keep magically appearing no matter how much you eat — the portion is truly huge.

I picked off the meat and had a bite with the tasty kkakdugi too. Actually you're supposed to finish with fried rice, but the gamjatang was so much I was too full for it. I'm glad more 24-hour restaurants in Seoul and Itaewon seem to be popping up again.

An endless blessing of gamjatang no matter how much you eat — the meat is really, really abundant.

I keep diligently picking off meat bone after bone and it never ends — Nuri Maeul Gamjatang is genuinely generous and delicious.

Feels like I'm repeating myself, but that's how loaded with pork bones it was. Maybe 10? 12 bones? I'm not exactly sure, but there were genuinely a lot haha.

See the bone bin? Even though it's a pretty big trash bin, it fills right up at Nuri Maeul Gamjatang. If you're looking for a 24-hour restaurant in Itaewon or Seoul, save this one and go enjoy some delicious gamjatang. It's also known as an Itaewon spot for ppyeo-jjim, so next time I'll try that.
