I had somewhere to be around Gangnam Station~Sinnonhyeon Station and was looking for a good brunch spot nearby when I found this place! The Mignon Seoul, a brunch restaurant near Gangnam Station. The vibe looked nice and the menu looked varied, so I went in!

How quiet is the second floor at The Mignon Seoul?

Even from the outside, it has that cute brunch café feel.

Once inside, it was definitely busy. It seemed like they use up to 3 floors, and the 1st floor was nearly full, so we went up to the 2nd floor to eat.

The 2nd floor was a bit quieter than the 1st, which I liked, and there were window seats too. The tables were spaced out fairly generously overall, so it was nice for a relaxed meal.

What's on the menu at The Mignon Seoul?

Looking at the menu, there was a surprisingly wide range — brunch, pasta, gnocchi, steak, salads. Brunch items included popover pancake, seasonal fruit brunch toast, apple butter jambon oven sandwich, mushroom soup, and there were several kinds of salad too!

For pasta there was truffle white pasta, seafood oil pasta, biscuit rosé pasta, puttanesca pasta, and more, and for gnocchi there was a truffle version and chestnut gnocchi. There were other dishes too like steak bolvo, and quite a lot of wines.

Cola and zero cola on the table

I'm trying to cut back on soda because my body doesn't handle it well these days… but I couldn't resist the zero cola…

Once everything was laid out, the visuals were pretty on point. True to brunch form, each dish was plated nicely and the whole spread felt very photogenic!

Plated brunch dishes

How does the 8,000 won mushroom soup taste?

The mushroom soup at The Mignon Seoul is ₩8,000. Overall it's mild and plain-tasting, but smooth, with a pretty strong mushroom flavor. There's also a slight sweetness, so it's not overpowering and easy to eat comfortably.

I'm not really a mushroom fan so my friend ate most of it, and she said it would've been better with a bit more salt and pepper. I agree..!

Chestnut gnocchi, 22,000 won: the sweet potato chips steal the show

Chestnut gnocchi, ₩22,000.

Chestnut gnocchi topped with sweet potato chips

I think this was my first time seeing chestnut gnocchi on a menu, and since we both love gnocchi, we ordered it. I expected some sweetness, and sure enough, sweet and nutty flavors dominated.

So it felt less like a typical savory main and more like a slightly sweet brunch dish! It's potato gnocchi in a chestnut sauce, topped with sweet potato chips.

But these sweet potato chips are genuinely delicious! Crispy, nutty, and sweet, and eating them with the soft gnocchi really brought the texture to life. The chestnuts mixed in tasted like they'd been candied a bit sweet — personally I think plainer chestnuts would've worked better.

I also liked the funky cheese aroma throughout — the combination of soft, sweet cream sauce with the gnocchi and chestnuts worked well together. Overall it's sweet, nutty and soft, which suited my taste pretty well!

Cross-section of the gnocchi with cream sauce

The gnocchi texture was a bit different from what I typically expect. Instead of the classic chewy gnocchi bite, it leaned more toward a well-fried hash brown or Korean potato pancake (gamjajeon) texture. That was slightly disappointing, but I actually like that kind of texture too, so it was fine for me.

Popover pancake, 18,000 won: a sweet-and-salty combo

Popover pancake, ₩18,000.

Puffed-up popover pancake

And the popover pancake was the most unique-looking dish of all! For starters, the pancake itself isn't the usual flat kind — it's baked so it puffs up a bit.

Popover pancake topped with arugula, ham and fruit

On top were arugula, soft cheese, ham, brûléed banana, cherry tomatoes, blueberries and more. It seems designed to be eaten as a sweet-salty combo! There's syrup drizzled on already, and personally I think it would've been nicer if the syrup came on the side so you could control the amount.

The combination of ingredients itself was better than expected. With sweet banana and fruit, salty ham, cheese, and arugula all together, the flavor shifted a little with every bite!

As for the pancake's texture and taste, it leaned more toward a fluffy French toast feel. Very much the classic brunch experience!

I was hungry, so I cleaned my plate haha

The Mignon Seoul for brunch near Gangnam and Sinnonhyeon stations: the verdict

The Mignon Seoul, a brunch restaurant near Gangnam Station! It feels like a good option when you want a cozy brunch in a nice atmosphere. We ordered the brunch set for two and tried the popover pancake, chestnut gnocchi, and mushroom soup — all of it was comforting and reliably good.
