I've gotten into cocktails lately as someone who used to be a total lightweight…

I've mostly been trying sweet dessert-style cocktails, and I heard there's a great-value cocktail spot in Hapjeong, so I went to check it out. Gipeun Sup (깊은숲), close to Hapjeong Station!

Where Gipeun Sup is in Hapjeong, and what the basement feels like

Gipeun Sup is on the basement floor of a building on Dokmak-ro near Hapjeong Station. Just head down to B1.

The moment you walk in, you're greeted by this cozy, hideaway-style cocktail bar…! Such a pretty, comfortable atmosphere.

There are also bar seats that are great for drinking solo.

In the back there are cushy sofa seats too, and Ghibli films were playing on the wall, which was fun.

And there's a lizard the owner keeps, too.

First off, the bar snacks that I love! Grilled camembert cheese, panne seafood cream tteokbokki, sausage and fries, a cheese plate, tomato caprese, chicken, salad — so many options. Since I love anything creamy… it wasn't a hard choice.

And now, the main event: the cocktails. Every single one is priced around ₩10,000, so the value is really solid. And there's a huge variety too. Photos were included for every drink, which made picking easy.

Besides cocktails, there's a wide range of other alcohol too. And there are also alcohol-free cocktails!

Honestly everything besides the cocktails looked way too strong for me, so I didn't dare. I stuck with the sweet cocktails…

Three cocktails plus a killer bar snack~ This was actually our second stop of the night, but it felt as hearty as a first round…

Panne seafood cream tteokbokki, 24,000 won: as big as a wash basin

The panne seafood cream tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cakes) at Gipeun Sup is ₩24,000.

Panne seafood cream tteokbokki served in a giant bowl

The menu even has a warning that it's huge, but I figured it'd just come in a slightly bigger bowl~ Turns out, no exaggeration… I have genuinely never seen a bowl this big before. I'm not sure the photo captures it, but this is really a wash basin.

Rice cakes and bread piled high in the cream tteokbokki

Anyway! I love anything creamy, and I especially love dipping bread into cream soup, so I couldn't resist the cream + panne bread combo and ordered it. True to its name, it's loaded with seafood — shrimp, mussels, clams — plus a huge amount of rice cakes and bread.

The cream is nicely thick yet smooth, with a subtle spiciness that keeps it from feeling greasy at all. Just dunking the bread into it, I could eat endlessly… I thought cocktails were supposed to be the main attraction here, but the food quality is so good it's perfect for someone like me who's really in it for the snacks!

A glass of the alcohol-free Cinderella cocktail

Alcohol-free Cinderella, 8,000 won

Cinderella is an ₩8,000 alcohol-free cocktail. I wondered why it's called that — turns out the name comes from the idea that people who can't drink, or who need to head home by midnight, can still enjoy it without getting tipsy. Kind of cute, haha.

It's made with orange juice, pineapple juice, lemon juice and more — a refreshing, sweet, fruity cocktail. Truly a sweet-and-tangy fruit juice style that anyone would like.

Signature Gipeun Sup cocktail, 10,000 won

The blue-toned signature Gipeun Sup cocktail

Since it's billed as the house signature, I was curious and picked it! It's made with vodka, tequila, apple pucker, mint syrup, lime juice, blue curaçao, and tonic.

The color alone looks so refreshing and pretty, and the taste matches — refreshing! I picked up more lime flavor than apple, and of course you can taste the alcohol, but overall it's light and crisp.

The pale, creamy mint chocolate Grasshopper cocktail

Grasshopper, the mint chocolate cocktail, 10,000 won

The Grasshopper is ₩10,000, made with mint liqueur, cacao liqueur, milk, and cream — a must-try mint chocolate cocktail if you're a fan of that flavor.

Even the look of it — pale and creamy — is a total win, and the taste is genuinely like drinking mint chocolate ice cream… with a spoonful of alcohol thrown in! The mint flavor really comes through, and it's perfect for sipping slowly. It would pair great with dessert too.

Ice cream brownie received as part of the review event

Ice cream brownie from the review event

So this ice cream brownie I got… it's not on the menu for sale, it seems you can only get it through the Naver review event.

On top of a sweet brownie sits vanilla ice cream, plus chocolate syrup and sliced almonds. Since this isn't a dessert café, it's not a mind-blowing flavor, but it's exactly what you'd expect and a great sweet finish. It comes as part of a review event, and the portion is pretty generous too.

Is Gipeun Sup worth a visit?

Gipeun Sup, my new go-to cocktail spot in Hapjeong! The thick, subtly spicy, never-greasy panne seafood cream tteokbokki, the refreshing color and taste of the Gipeun Sup, the Grasshopper that's basically mint chocolate itself, and the tangy-sweet, easygoing alcohol-free Cinderella — everything was genuinely delicious…

Especially if this is your first stop of the night or you're hungry, definitely get the panne seafood cream tteokbokki!! Overall the value is excellent and there's such a wide, tasty range of cocktails that I highly recommend it as a great cocktail spot in Hapjeong.
