Where is Gipeun Sup in Hapjeong?

Gipeun Sup is a bar about 3 minutes' walk from Hapjeong Station Exit 3, tucked in an alley off Dokmak-ro. It's open daily from 18:00 to 02:00, with last order at 01:00. Today I visited Gipeun Sup, a Hapjeong bar — I'd been looking for somewhere to have a quiet drink after dinner in the area.

The location is perfect if you're on foot without a car, haha. It's right where you'd want it for a second-round spot after drinking near Hapjeong, Hongdae, or Sangsu. And it's close enough to Hapjeong Station that heading home afterward was super easy.

Instead of the chaotic, crowded feel of Hapjeong's main strip, this place is a little tucked away, with a mood that feels comfortable for a relaxed drink — so in we went 〰️

Inside Gipeun Sup: mood and seating

Inside, Gipeun Sup has dim lighting with a wood-toned, slightly vintage feel. There are both table seats and bar-style seats.

There are so many bars in Hapjeong that I was torn on where to go, but Gipeun Sup was really a good choice 👏 Instead of a noisy, rowdy bar, it has a slightly dark, atmospheric feel where you can talk slowly over drinks.

Since this place serves a range of cocktails, beer, and wine rather than just typical bar drinks, it seems like a great fit for a date or a second-round spot. The table next to us actually looked like they'd come here after a blind date, all sweet and cozy ,, 💓

With both table seats and bar-style seats, it seemed like a good fit for visiting with friends, and also good for quietly chatting with someone you're seeing haha.

Overall, the dim lighting mixed with the wood tone and vintage feel gave it a totally different vibe from the clean, minimal bars that are trendy right now. Personally, I find this slightly darker mood more comfortable for drinking. Totally my style ✨

Gipeun Sup menu and how to order

Ordering at Gipeun Sup is done via QR code at the table. The cocktail selection was pretty varied.

Gipeun Sup has such a wide cocktail selection that it's a great pick for a night when you're craving cocktails. Godfather, Manhattan, Espresso Martini, Cosmopolitan — there were so many kinds, and above all, they were great value. Just ₩10,000 ,, 🫢 I didn't photograph the whole menu, just a portion, so take this as a reference!!

A bottle of DON BAFFO red wine

What we ordered was DON BAFFO red wine. Since Gipeun Sup has wine bottles in the ₩30,000s, it didn't feel like a stretch.

I really like red wine normally, and this one wasn't too heavy or overly tannic, so it was easy to drink comfortably. These days a bottle at other bars usually starts around ₩70,000–80,000, but here there are options in the ₩30,000s, so there was no pressure at all 👏👏 Such a nice price ‼️

The owner opened the red wine himself and poured us the first glass.

Since this was our third round of the night and we were already pretty full, we just ordered the wine on its own with no side dish, and honestly it felt clean and even better that way. Every time I drink wine, I think the clink of glasses touching sounds so pretty. Cheers with a friend after a while 〰️🍷

There were also basic pretzels to snack on simply while drinking the wine.

Finishing the night with a dark beer

After a while of drinking wine, I started craving something cold and refreshing, so I ordered a dark beer at Gipeun Sup.

Wine, beer, cocktails — it really feels like there's no drink they don't have.

The mood is great and the prices are great, so this feels perfect for anyone looking for a bar in Hapjeong. I think from now on this is the only Hapjeong bar I'll go to. Feels like I'm about to become a regular 💓
