What is Seongsan Seobiu Udon Donkatsu like?
Seongsan Seobiu Udon Donkatsu (성산서비우동돈까스) is a restaurant near Seongsan Ilchulbong serving donkatsu (breaded pork cutlet), udon and rice bowls. It's a great place for a hearty meal after sightseeing in Seongsan, Jeju.
I stay on the east side of Jeju, so I visit the Seongsan area a lot, and this time I discovered Seongsan Seobiu Udon Donkatsu. The owner was so kind and all the food was so delicious that I wanted to spread the word everywhere.

You can tell what they sell from the name alone, haha. Besides donkatsu and udon, the menu has rice bowls, curry donkatsu and more. Since it's so close to the tourist spot Seongsan Ilchulbong, lots of foreign visitors from many different countries come here too.
You can park in front of the restaurant, or use the free Goseong-ri Public Health Center public parking lot, one minute away on foot, diagonally across.

Atmosphere: a clean interior and a mini figure collection
Inside, the restaurant felt clean and very comfortable overall. What stood out was the mini character figure collection, which is seriously huge, haha.
Little figures like these are dust collectors, but even up close I couldn't spot a speck of dust, so the owner must take really good care of them.
Menu at Seongsan Seobiu Udon Donkatsu

The menu covers donkatsu, udon and rice bowls, easy choices that pretty much anyone can enjoy.

Side dishes and small plates are self-serve.

I ordered four different things: the fresh pork loin donkatsu set, curry donkatsu, beef belly rice bowl, and the tempura hot udon set.
How was the fresh pork loin donkatsu set?

The fresh pork loin donkatsu set comes with a mini udon, so it's extra filling. The cutlet uses fresh Jeju pork loin, and the texture and flavor were really good.
The outside is crispy and the inside chews soft, and the sauce was especially tasty. I'd had donkatsu the day before too, and I still loved it!
Curry donkatsu: rice topped with a poached egg and mild curry

The curry donkatsu is the fresh loin cutlet with smooth curry added. The curry wasn't harsh at all, just mild and packed with savory depth, and crispy cutlet with curry flavor, oh, so good~
The rice under the curry donkatsu also comes topped with a poached egg!
Not into donkatsu? Try the beef belly rice bowl

The non-donkatsu dishes are delicious too! The beef belly rice bowl (thinly sliced beef brisket-style belly) comes with various toppings and a special sauce, making a filling one-bowl meal.
It's full of savory flavor and the ingredients have great texture, so I recommend it to anyone who prefers rice dishes.

Tempura hot udon set: the tempura comes separately, so it stays crisp

The tempura hot udon set comes with hot udon, assorted tempura and yubu chobap (sweet fried tofu pouch sushi).

Normally tempura udon has the tempura sitting on top of the noodles, but here the udon and tempura are served separately, so the tempura doesn't go soggy and you eat it still crispy. It's great as is, or you can dip it lightly in the broth.
The hot udon is especially good. The broth was rich and deep, just wonderful~!

And the yubu chobap that comes with it is super plump, so I opened wide and took a big bite, ahh!

Why it felt so relaxed for a tourist-area restaurant
As much as the food, what made me happy was how kind the owner was. Tasty food matters when you visit a restaurant, but friendly service makes you feel good through the whole meal, right~
Restaurants around tourist spots can feel hectic when they're busy, but this one didn't feel that way. I could eat comfortably and enjoy my stay. If you're planning a trip around Seongsan Ilchulbong, stop by Seongsan Seobiu Udon Donkatsu!!
