Seongsan seafood restaurant for a hangover seafood stew: Jejurowoon
In short
Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon Seongsan Ilchulbong Branch is a braised hairtail (galchi-jorim) and seafood stew restaurant on the main road in Seongsan, Seogwipo, Jeju. Two orders of the signature A set (24,000 won per person, 48,000 won for two) brought braised hairtail, grilled tilefish and sticky pot rice, with seafood stew chosen over sea urchin seaweed soup as a hangover cure for a husband who had been drinking the night before. With soy-marinated crab among the side dishes and nurungji tea from the rice pot to finish, Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon made a filling family lunch with kids.

Today I visited [Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon Seongsan Ilchulbong Branch], a great stop while touring eastern Jeju near Seongsan Ilchulbong and Seopjikoji!
Parking and first impressions at Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon Seongsan Ilchulbong Branch

Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon Seongsan Ilchulbong Branch is right on the main road in Seongsan's Shinyang-ro, so it was easy to find. There are 2 parking spots behind the restaurant, and roadside parking is also possible on the street out front. We just parked on the roadside and walked right in.
Inside Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon: group seating and kids' tableware

Going inside, the restaurant was on the spacious side and very clean.

There was plenty of group seating too, so it seemed like a great spot for family trips or larger groups to eat.

They also had separate tableware ready for kids, so families with children can eat comfortably here.

Am I eating with a gold spoon or what? The tableware was gold-colored and it honestly put me in a good mood haha.
The menu: what comes with the A set?
Looking at the Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon menu, the set meals caught my eye. The most representative set, the A set, centers on galchi-jorim (braised hairtail) with grilled tilefish, sticky pot rice, and a choice of either seafood stew or sea urchin seaweed soup. There were various other set menus too — check the photo for reference!

Besides the set menus, they also had à la carte dishes and add-on items you could order alongside a main meal.
What we ordered: A set for two with the hangover seafood stew
- A set for two (braised hairtail + grilled tilefish + seafood stew + sticky pot rice), ₩24,000 per person / ₩48,000 total
We ordered the A set for two, Jejurowoon's signature dish. You get to choose between seafood stew and sea urchin seaweed soup, and since my husband had been drinking at our lodging the night before, we picked the seafood stew as a hangover cure haha.

Not long after ordering, a neat spread of side dishes was set out. There was a nice variety, so it was fun picking at this and that.

The soy-marinated crab was the best side dish
Out of all the side dishes, the soy crab (ganjang gejang) was genuinely the tastiest.

I usually can't handle anything too fishy, so I normally go for spicy marinated crab instead, but this soy crab wasn't fishy at all and had amazing savory depth.

It was so good that apparently it's already famous — the soy crab is even available for nationwide delivery.

Was the seafood stew really a hangover cure?
The seafood stew's broth was super refreshing!

It was loaded with shrimp, mussels, and sea squirts, giving the broth a deep, rich flavor. My husband loved it, saying it totally cured his hangover, and since it had been ages since I'd had seafood stew myself, I kept going back for more broth haha.

Grilled tilefish the kids said tasted like fried chicken
The grilled tilefish (okdom) was a massive hit with the kids. The outside was fried crispy, so the kids said it was just like chicken and devoured it happily haha.

The main dish: braised hairtail simmered in a hot pot at the table
The main dish, galchi-jorim (braised hairtail), came out in a hot pot. Simmering it gently over low heat as we ate meant the sauce reduced into something incredibly savory — a total rice thief, no other way to put it. 😋

And you know the radish in the braise is basically pure honey, right? haha

Mixing the sauce into rice and topping it with hairtail flesh, our bowls emptied in no time haha.

Sticky pot rice and nurungji tea to finish
The rice came as sticky pot rice, served with a lid on a wooden stand — so cute and pretty haha. Lifting the lid gently revealed steaming, delicious pot rice!

We scooped the rice onto our own small plates and ate it first alongside the galchi-jorim.

Pouring hot water that had been prepped into the pot let us finish with a palate-cleansing nurungji tea (sungnyung) — such a nice touch.

It had been ages since I'd had sungnyung — warm, toasty, and really delicious. 🤭
Final verdict: is the 24,000-won A set worth it?

For ₩24,000 per person, the A set gave us a generous spread of galchi-jorim, grilled tilefish, seafood stew, and sticky pot rice, which felt like really good value. Our whole family, kids included, walked out full and satisfied after a delicious lunch.
Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon opens early in the morning, so if you're staying near Seongsan Ilchulbong, Seopjikoji, or Aqua Planet, it's a great breakfast option too. Highly recommend it if you're after a hearty Jeju-style spread. 💛
