Where is Geumnyeong Gomtang Yeoksam Branch?
Geumnyeong Gomtang Yeoksam Branch is a Korean restaurant about 100m from Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 4 (1 Bongeunsa-ro 4-gil, 1F, Gangnam-gu, Seoul). Hi everyone, it's Riu, hehe. Today I'm introducing a hearty gomtang (beef bone soup) spot near Sinnonhyeon Station that's great for restoring your energy.

Looks like they use top-grade chilled Korean beef shank, not frozen, to make the gomtang 😄
Is Geumnyeong Gomtang comfortable for solo diners?
The inside of Geumnyeong Gomtang Yeoksam Branch is really clean and comfortable, great for solo dining too. There are plenty of tables so it'd also work well for groups. Since gomtang turns over fast, there were tons of solo diners as well ☺️

I liked how intuitive and simple the menu is ☺️ It's basically gomtang or rice noodles~~! Here's what I ordered~~~ 👇👇👇
- Special gomtang (₩15,000)
- Rice noodles (₩13,000)
- Kimchi mandu, 3 pcs (₩6,000)
- Rice bowl (₩1,000)

What is on the self-serve banchan bar?
You scoop your own banchan (side dishes) from the self-serve bar, and there's a really wide variety 🥰 So many of them are delicious even just with plain rice, haha. Among them, the soybean paste sesame leaf pickle is the best... 👍 Not many places have cucumber peppers, but Geumnyeong Gomtang Yeoksam Branch does, and I loved that so much 😆
Soy sauce, pepper, and kimchi are set on every table. The kimchi jar has napa cabbage kimchi and cubed radish kimchi 😆
I carefully picked out only the banchan I actually wanted to eat. From the self-serve bar I grabbed soybean paste sesame leaf pickle, cucumber peppers, dried radish salad, and pickled chili 😆

The gomtang comes out pretty quickly too ☺️ At first I wondered why only chopsticks were in the utensil holder with no spoon — turns out the spoon comes stuck right in the soup~~ The bowl on the right is the special gomtang, and it definitely had more meat in it 😆 If you want a heartier meal, I recommend paying the extra ₩2,000 for the special gomtang ☺️
The kimchi mandu (kimchi dumplings) arrived too 😉~~

Special gomtang, 15,000 won: how much beef?
Special gomtang (₩15,000). At Geumnyeong Gomtang Yeoksam Branch, I ordered the regular gomtang with an extra ₩2,000 to upgrade to the special 😁

They sprinkle pepper on to taste.
They only use top-grade Korean beef, so the beef shank is really fresh 👍

Since I ordered the special, a few slices of Korean beef came up when I stirred in the rice, and it was really filling ☺️

Eating it with kimchi was also amazing — the variety of banchan made it even tastier 😆

My favorite banchan is the soybean paste sesame leaf pickle!!! The rice noodles are good too, but there are so many great side dishes for rice that I really recommend the gomtang as well ☺️

There are also rice cakes (tteokguk-tteok) mixed in~~

Rice noodles, 13,000 won: add rice and the broth becomes gomtang
Rice noodles (₩13,000). The rice noodles at Geumnyeong Gomtang Yeoksam Branch use the same gomtang broth, but with rice noodles instead of rice 😊
I dipped a piece of meat in soy sauce and ate it 😊 The bowl is packed with noodles too~
I took a hearty bite together with the Korean beef shank. The broth is really,, clean and rich.
And of course, kimchi can't be missing. Even though it's noodles instead of rice, I can't give up the kimchi and banchan.

It goes so well with the soybean paste sesame leaf pickle too 🥰 Want to know what's great about ordering the rice noodles,,? Once you finish the noodles, order a bowl of rice and it becomes gomtang 🤭,,,
So I went ahead and ordered a rice bowl (₩1,000) too. Honestly, the soybean paste sesame leaf pickle was so good I wanted to eat it with plain rice 😆

The banchan here is seriously excellent ☺️☺️ Looking at these photos makes me want to eat again.

I finished all the rice noodles and then mixed in the rice too. In the end, I think I ate even more than my partner, who ordered the special gomtang 🤭

I topped it with cucumber peppers too and ate every last bit. After finishing, I felt really full and healthily satisfied.

Kimchi mandu, three dumplings for 6,000 won
Kimchi mandu, 3 pieces (₩6,000). I ordered the kimchi mandu too, hehe.
The filling is packed full, and true to the name
