Today I finally visited Something About Coffee, a place I've been curious about every time I passed by Sinnonhyeon because it's always so crowded!

How to reach Something About Coffee from Sinnonhyeon and Gangnam Station, floor by floor
Something About Coffee is closer to Sinnonhyeon Station, but it's a very walkable distance from Gangnam Station too, so accessibility was good. The café spans from the 1st to the 3rd floor, and there's even an outdoor terrace on the 3rd floor, so the space was more varied than I expected.
You know this vibe, right? A pretty, slightly glamorous aesthetic that women will love, so it was great for photos too ✨ Even during busy hours, the seats are split across several different spaces, so it seemed like a good place to relax and chat with a friend.
Overall the interior was clean but decorated beautifully, so it felt like a great fit for a date or a get-together with friends. Even though it's a big café, it didn't just feel spacious for the sake of it — each floor had a slightly different mood, which made it fun to explore.
What's on the dessert and drink menu at Something About Coffee
Something About Coffee seemed to have a really huge variety of desserts! Cakes and all sorts of other desserts were displayed so beautifully that even if you came just for coffee, you'd end up wanting to order one too — the visuals were something else 🤤 I agonized over what to get, and one menu item caught my eye right away: the black sesame fig cheesecake!
The drink menu was also pretty diverse, and the black sesame cream latte, matcha cream cold brew, and matcha cream choco latte especially stood out like the signature items. They all looked delicious, so I agonized for a while before choosing the matcha cream choco latte for the day. If you like matcha but can't handle coffee's caffeine, I'd recommend this one too!

Matcha cream choco latte: how sweet and how bitter?
🍵 The matcha cream choco latte was genuinely more delicious than expected! On top of a sweet, rich chocolate base, the bitterness of the matcha came through, and the cream on top smoothed it all out, making for a proper sweet-bitter combo. The chocolate didn't feel heavily sweet on its own because the matcha subtly balanced it out, so it paired well with dessert. If you can't drink caffeinated drinks, give this one a try >.<
Iced Americano: clean, with a touch of acidity
☕ The Americano had a slight acidity, which is exactly the type I like. It felt clean but had a subtle tang, so alternating between it and the sweet matcha cream choco latte or the cake made for a great combo. When dessert is sweet, coffee that's clean works well, right? That's exactly the feeling I got.
Black sesame fig cheesecake: nutty flavour and fig texture
🍰 And today's real star was, of course, this one. Black sesame + fig + cheesecake — isn't that basically everything I love all in one dish?! (◜◡◝) The soft, dense texture typical of cheesecake was joined by the rich, nutty flavor of black sesame, and the combination worked better than I expected. Then the fig added a subtle sweetness and its own distinct fruity texture, which kept it from getting boring.
I especially liked that the fig wasn't overly sweet — it had a clean bite that balanced out the nuttiness of the black sesame. I already love figs, so this combo was a total hit for my taste,, ෆ
Who is Something About Coffee in Gangnam best for?
Overall, I think the biggest strength of Something About Coffee is being able to enjoy a pretty atmosphere, a spacious layout, and a wide variety of desserts all at once. With space from the 1st to the 3rd floor and a terrace on the 3rd floor, it's a solid option when looking for a café near the always-crowded Sinnonhyeon Station. On a nice day, having coffee on the terrace would set a great mood!
And since it's easily reachable from Gangnam Station too, I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a café near Gangnam Station. It's great for catching up with a friend over chats, and it also fits well if you're looking for a pretty café for a date.
