Charcoal cleansing balm for dry skin and blackhead areas: HEEDA
In short
HEEDA Jirisan Moist Charcoal Cleansing Balm is a Korean cleansing balm for dry skin and areas prone to sebum buildup. I melted it with the warmth of my hands, massaged it over my nose and butterfly zone, then emulsified and rinsed it off. My verdict: it left my skin feeling clean without a lingering residue.

How did I use it on areas where blackheads were bothering me?

As the weather got warmer, I became more conscious of sebum buildup around my nose and butterfly zone, so I paid extra attention to cleansing. I first melted the balm with the warmth of my hands, then gave the sides of my nose, butterfly zone, glabella, and tip of my chin another massage.

What were the balm texture and packaging like?

It was a balm texture that ran less than an oil cleanser, which made it convenient to use. There was a separate inner cap under the lid and a spatula included, so in the damp setting around the sink, I scooped it out with the spatula.

I used one scoop to remove everyday makeup, and used more on days when I wore color makeup or a heavier base. The texture was moderately firm, so I felt it was easy to scoop out just the amount I needed.

How did I emulsify it and finish after cleansing?

After massaging, I added water to emulsify it and rinsed several times with water. Since I have dry skin, I finished by wiping once with a toner pad instead of double cleansing, and my skin felt less tight afterward.

If you have oily skin, you could also consider following up with a mild acidic foam cleanser. Since this balm is black like charcoal, it was easy to spot sitting by the sink, and I found it a refreshing cleanser to use in summer.

What skin concerns did I try it for?

I tried it with people who have dehydrated-oily skin in mind, or those looking for something to care for sebum-prone areas as an alternative to a nose strip. Still, rather than trying to get rid of blackheads all at once, I found that consistently cleansing while minimizing irritation suited me better.
