Seongnam whisky bar date: Tamdhu and whisky ice cream at The Momento

This is the story of The Momento, a whisky bar in Jeongja-dong, where I went with my husband to set a bit of a mood after a while! Since it's a whisky bar, we visited at night, and the entrance is pretty unusual so some people might have trouble finding it haha. If you look for the Allabo poke shop, it'll be much easier to find the place.

The Momento Jeongja Station Branch is located at 146 Jeongjail-ro, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do (Emco Heritz 1-danji 101-dong 126-ho). It's open daily from 7 PM to 2 AM.

What's the evening atmosphere at The Momento like?

We visited in the evening, and true to a whisky bar, the lighting was soft overall and the mood was quite good. That said, first-timers might have a little trouble finding the entrance..! We were slightly lost at first too, but looking for the Allabo poke shop makes it much easier to find the place. It felt like a good spot to sit quietly and have a drink, so it was nice for chatting with my husband on a date.

There's no menu — say your price range first

One thing that was a little disappointing about The Momento was that there's no separate menu. The owner asked about our tastes and recommended whiskies or cocktails based on that. It was nice to get recommendations, but a bit awkward because it's hard to know the price in advance, which was the most disappointing part ㅜ. If you're a newlywed couple without much spare cash like us, or someone who just started a job 😂, I'd recommend telling them your desired price range before ordering drinks. If you mention both your taste and your budget, it'll be much easier to choose.

What my husband drank — Tamdhu, Glenfarclas, GlenDronach

At The Momento, my husband drank Tamdhu, Glenfarclas, and GlenDronach. Today's whiskies for my husband, who's deep into whisky 🍸. It was the most expensive, but he said Tamdhu was the tastiest ㅋㅋㅋ (Tamdhu is a sherry cask whisky!)

A sweet whisky cocktail with a smoke performance

I prefer sweet, easy-to-drink cocktails over drinking whisky straight, so I ordered a whisky cocktail at The Momento. Maybe because of the mix of ingredients like Malibu and peach tree schnapps, it was a sweet, delicious cocktail to drink. And here's the fun part about The Momento's cocktails!

Rather than just pouring it into a glass, they add all kinds of presentation and technique(?), so it was fun to watch too. Sometimes smoke comes out, and it comes out looking cool like watching a little performance, so it was great for photos or videos 📸. For anyone who wants to set the mood while having a drink, the cocktails seem like a solid choice too.

At the end, whisky ice cream on the house! At the very end, the owner gave us whisky ice cream as a complimentary treat! It was more delicious than I expected and left a real impression haha. I thought a whisky ice cream would just have a faint hint of aroma, but the whisky flavor came through much stronger than expected, and it was delicious. Eating it like a dessert at the end of drinking made for a great finish, too 🍦🥃

Overall — if you want to set the mood in Jeongja-dong

Overall, it was a really stylish whisky bar in Jeongja-dong. It was nice to visit with my husband, just the two of us, for a while, sitting quietly and chatting over drinks — the cocktails were tasty and the owner was kind. In particular, it was fun that when we ordered cocktails, he served them with all kinds of stylish presentation. It was a bit of a shame that we didn't ask about prices beforehand, but it still made for a happy date, getting to set the mood and have a drink with my husband after a while 🤎 If you want a drink of whisky or a cocktail somewhere with a good atmosphere in Jeongja-dong, this place is worth a visit 🥃✨
