Chive-topped pork soup and bibim milmyeon at Busan Station: Yeongdong

In short

Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap Busan Station Branch is a Korean restaurant right in front of Busan Station in Dong-gu, Busan, serving dwaeji gukbap (pork soup with rice) and milmyeon (wheat noodles) under one roof. Every table orders by tablet, and this visit brought dwaeji gukbap, sundae gukbap and bibim milmyeon, with the free chives from the side dishes stirred into the soup for a broth that tasted rich without feeling heavy. I was looking for somewhere filling to eat near Busan Station and ended up at Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap Busan Station Branch. It sits right in front of the station building, so it's convenient before catching a train or while traveling around Busan, and I liked that you could get both gukbap (soup with rice) and milmyeon (wheat noodles) in one visit.

Inside the restaurant and how tablet ordering works

Walking in, the interior was bigger and cleaner than I expected. The tables were spaced comfortably apart, and the layout seemed to work for solo diners as well as groups. The overall wood-tone interior gave it a warm feel, and true to a restaurant near Busan Station, turnover looked brisk.

Near the entrance there were several celebrity signatures on the wall, giving off the vibe of a place that's been well known for a long time. Each table had a tablet ordering system, which made choosing dishes easy, and I liked how tidy everything stayed even amid the busy energy typical of a gukbap restaurant.

What we ordered: dwaeji gukbap, sundae gukbap and bibim milmyeon

This time we ordered dwaeji gukbap (pork soup), sundae gukbap (blood sausage soup), and bibim milmyeon (spicy mixed wheat noodles).

First, the basic side dishes came out: kimchi, kkakdugi (radish kimchi), chives, onion, chili, garlic, and ssamjang (dipping sauce). It was a good lineup to eat alongside the soups, and stirring the chives into the gukbap in particular brought the broth flavor to life.

How the pork soup and sundae gukbap tasted

With the dwaeji gukbap, the milky white broth caught my eye first. It was loaded with meat, so every spoonful brought up meat along with the broth, and the soup was rich but never heavy. It had that warm, filling quality that made it a satisfying meal near Busan Station. With so much lean meat in it, it was really delicious.

The sundae gukbap was satisfying too. It had a generous amount of meat and sundae (blood sausage), and the sundae's texture was soft and easy to eat. The broth itself was clean, so it was fun to adjust it to taste with a little saeujeot (salted shrimp) or dadegi (chili paste).

Is the bibim milmyeon worth ordering?

The bibim milmyeon had a spicy-sweet sauce well soaked into the noodles. The noodles were chewy and satisfying to bite into, and eating them with the boiled egg and meat toppings was a nice combination. If you feel like gukbap alone isn't quite enough, ordering bibim milmyeon alongside really wakes up your appetite. Adding a bit of mustard or vinegar makes it taste even better.

What we liked and what fell short

What we liked: it's close to Busan Station so it's easy to get to, and the restaurant is spacious and clean. Both the dwaeji gukbap and sundae gukbap came loaded with ingredients, so the meal was filling, and being able to order bibim milmyeon alongside them gave a nice range of choices. The staff were also kind and the food was neatly prepared.

The tablet ordering system also made ordering easy, and with the tidy interior, it seemed like a good fit for travelers or families too.

If I had to name a drawback, it's that there's no parking fee support. It seems more convenient to arrive via Busan Station or on foot rather than driving.

This was a good place to visit when craving a warm bowl of gukbap near Busan Station. The dwaeji gukbap was loaded with meat and filling, and the sundae gukbap was satisfying with both sundae and meat to enjoy together. The bibim milmyeon was spicy and chewy, making it a great pairing with the soups.
