A pork and beef restaurant near Seolleung Station — Hwaseol Seolleung Direct Branch
Today I'm in Seolleung. I was craving good beef and red wine and trying to figure out where to go, when I found this place!
It's Hwaseol Seolleung Direct Branch (화설 선릉직영점).

It took about 10 minutes on foot from Seolleung Station. This week has been so, so hot 🥲
It's not far but somehow felt like forever,, We had a 6:30 reservation, and my girlfriend, whose office is nearby, got there first haha. It was too hot to look around inside so we ordered first,, let's check out the menu first ☺️
Ordering the Hwaseol 1% black beef platter, with draft beer at 7,000 won
Honestly we'd studied the menu ahead of time haha. We went straight for the 'Hwaseol 1% black beef platter.'
And since I was so hot, a glass of Stella draft beer 🍺 Normally ₩8,000 but discounted to ₩7,000 right now! (( such a steal ))
Free corkage at Hwaseol: we brought a bottle of red wine
It was so cold and delicious haha. And Hwaseol Seolleung Direct Branch is corkage-free! So we brought a bottle of red wine along haha.
Grand Canyon theme, from the camping zone to the large group rooms
Hwaseol Seolleung Direct Branch is themed around America's Grand Canyon in the American West! One side has seating set up to feel like a campsite haha.
And even the seats that aren't camping-style still have that camping feel with the fire pits! There's a camping zone, Cowboy Room, Hunter Room, and large group rooms too, so it works for dates like ours all the way up to group dinners!
What side dishes come with the meal at Hwaseol
The side dishes were set out first — pa-kimchi (green onion kimchi), mu-saengchae (spicy radish salad), salad, onion, and baek-kimchi (white kimchi) 🥬 Neat little sides to eat alongside the meat haha.

(( The pa-kimchi was the best for me )) The meat finally arrived! Can you see how vivid red this meat looks?
The black beef platter is made up of kkotsal (chuck flap), sirloin, and galbisal (rib finger)!
And here's the red wine we brought 🍷 Since it's corkage-free they set us up with two wine glasses and an opener!

Staff grill the black beef for you at the table
And at Hwaseol Seolleung Direct Branch, staff grill the meat for you! They grill it with an expert's touch haha.
They grilled the kkotsal first! Grilled it just right, then cut it into bite-sized pieces, yum 👍🏻
One bite dipped in salt, one bite topped with pa-kimchi!
The doenjang jjigae that comes with the black beef platter
Oh, and I almost forgot about the doenjang jjigae — it had tofu, onion, mushroom, all in there, deep and rich, so good with the meat 🙌🏻
If you order the black beef platter, the doenjang jjigae comes along with it 🙂 If you need rice, that's extra. We just had the stew and decided to get ramyeon (instant noodles) later haha.
Then they put on the pork neck, mushrooms, and shishito peppers! We grilled the pork neck ourselves haha, and since it wasn't the expert's touch, it came out a little unevenly grilled ㅠ But the meat itself is so good that it was still tasty even grilled like that!
And finally they grilled the galbisal for us haha. Grilled so beautifully that the flavor came right back to life 🥩
Dipping the well-grilled galbisal with mushrooms into salt was so good, good, good 👍🏻
Finishing with brisket-pork belly ramyeon
When we were almost done with the meat, we ordered the 'brisket-pork belly ramyeon'!
Honestly the 'truffle fried jjapaghetti' tempted us too! But neither of us really likes truffle aroma that much,, so a little sadly we went with the 'brisket-pork belly ramyeon' instead!
When the ramyeon came out, wow, glad we ordered it haha. The meaty aroma soaked right in, green onions scattered generously on top, and finishing it off by draining the broth down was just so good!
From the high-quality meat they grilled for us all the way to the ramyeon at the end, wow,,
Parking behind the Hwaseol Seolleung building
Oh, and for those driving, there's an underground parking lot behind the building! It's elevator parking so it might be tricky for large vehicles, in which case you'll need to use a nearby paid lot 🥲
