Evening bakery café in Anseong: pizza bread over bingsu, Chat Baker
In short
Chat Baker Brunch & Bakery Café is a large brunch and bakery café on Seodong-daero in Gongdo-eup, Anseong, Gyeonggi, near Anseong Farmland. A couple went to Chat Baker around 8 p.m. for bingsu (shaved ice) but changed plans at the bread showcase. They ate soboro bread, pizza bread, Mont Blanc, red bean butter salt bread and Dubai salt bread with drinks, and named the pizza bread their favorite. Chat Baker's strengths are its spacious interior and wide bread selection, though popular breads can sell out late in the evening.

Why we picked Chat Baker, a dessert café near Anseong Farmland
After dinner in Anseong, we headed to Chat Baker, a big bakery café in Gongdo-eup, for dessert. There's one problem that always comes up after dinner in Anseong: "Want dessert?" In our house that's not actually a question. My wife has already decided, and she's just asking me anyway, haha.

That day I thought about just going home, but we ended up at Chat Baker, famous as a café near Anseong Farmland. Long story short: we went for bingsu and came back having eaten nothing but bread.

Chat Baker at a glance
- Very spacious, as a big Pyeongtaek-Anseong café should be
- Wide variety of breads, and the salt bread types satisfied us
- A good café for dates, family outings and brunch

Is parking and getting to Chat Baker easy?
We arrived around 8 p.m., and with plenty of parking space there was almost no parking stress. It's an easy drive from the Gongdo side of Anseong and close to Anseong Farmland, so it looked like a decent drive-course stop too.

Roomy as a big Pyeongtaek-Anseong café should be
The moment you walk into Chat Baker, you feel it's far bigger than expected. I immediately understood why people call it a big Pyeongtaek-Anseong café. The seats are spaced widely and the ceilings are high, so it never feels stuffy. Even on a crowded weekend you could probably sit in relative comfort.
The water flowing down the glass wall was especially striking. At first I honestly thought it was raining, haha. Watching it quietly, you end up zoning out to the water.

There are outdoor terrace seats too. We skipped them because it was hot that day, but they'd probably be popular in cooler seasons. A fine option for anyone looking for an outdoor terrace café in Anseong.

Five breads we chose instead of bingsu
The plan was bingsu, but the moment we saw the bread display, the plan changed. It was late evening and a lot was already gone, yet everything left looked delicious.

In the end we ordered the breads below, my wife's picks, plus one drink each. Whether dessert cost more than dinner, I won't ask. She's happy, so that's fine.
- Soboro bread (streusel-topped bun)
- Pizza bread
- Mont Blanc
- Red bean butter salt bread
- Dubai salt bread
How the breads and drinks at Chat Baker actually tasted
Chocolate latte and blueberry smoothie
The chocolate latte was richer than I expected. The chocolate flavor came through more than the milk, so anyone with a sweet tooth would likely be satisfied. The blueberry smoothie my wife ordered tasted exactly the classic way you'd imagine.

Sweet-tart and pleasantly good, nothing unusual.

Soboro bread and red bean butter salt bread
They say the basics matter for soboro bread, right? Chat Baker's was crisp outside and moist inside, with solid fundamentals.

The red bean butter salt bread combined salty, butter and sweet red bean paste nicely. Personally, I found it pleasantly good, nothing more.

The pizza bread that stood out most that day
But what I remember most from that day was Chat Baker's pizza bread. The bread was fluffy with generous toppings, and it felt far more loaded than the pizza bread at an ordinary neighborhood bakery. My wife said this was the best one too.

Dubai salt bread and Mont Blanc
The Dubai salt bread mixed sweet and salty in a good balance, great with coffee.

The Mont Blanc was the kind anyone can eat without fuss. The showcase looks pretty powerful.

Chat Baker's second-floor LP space and ceiling sculpture
The second floor of Chat Baker has an LP (vinyl record) display space. With the ceiling sculpture too, it's not just a place to drink coffee; there was fun in looking around.

Maybe that's why there were many couples on dates and quite a few families. If you're looking for a brunch café in Gongdo, Anseong, it's worth saving. It serves a brunch menu too, so a daytime visit would probably be even more satisfying.

Chat Baker pros and cons
Pros
- Spacious
- Easy parking
- Wide variety of bakery items
- Good atmosphere for dates
- Second-floor LP zone and sculpture to look at
Cons
- Popular breads may sell out if you visit late
- Danger zone for your wallet, since you end up grabbing lots of bread

Chat Baker's strengths compared with other cafés around Gongdo
Compared with other cafés around Gongdo, Chat Baker's biggest strengths are its size and the variety of bakery items. Where ordinary cafés center on coffee, Chat Baker seems to draw people who come for the bread itself. Being a good stop after Anseong Farmland is a plus too.
Would I recommend Chat Baker as a café near Anseong Farmland?
If you're looking for a café near Anseong Farmland, Chat Baker is well worth recommending, and I'd very much go back. Drinks run ₩6,000–8,000, breads ₩4,000–9,000, and my recommended menu is pizza bread, Dubai salt bread and red bean butter salt bread.
Rather than just coffee, it should satisfy bread lovers especially. I recommend it to couples looking for a date spot, people wanting a place to rest after a family outing, and anyone who likes a wide, comfortable café. Next time I want to try the brunch menu. Do you spend more on bread than coffee when you go to cafés? I'm curious, haha.
