Gwangalli set with beef tataki at a Beomgye bar: Cheolgil Busanjip

Cheolgil Busanjip Beomgye Branch is an oden (fish cake) bar in Anyang, Gyeonggi, a 5-minute walk from Beomgye Station Exit 2. The Gwangalli set for two came with beef tataki, an assorted fish cake platter and two extra Busan fish cakes — cheese and spicy squid — alongside Hanmaek draft beer and a plum highball. Every table at Cheolgil Busanjip has its own fish cake warmer, so the broth stays hot to the last bite, and the cheese fish cake was the clear favourite.

Moran Station pork belly restaurant: 650g B set for two, Mat Chandeul

Mat Chandeul Wang Sogeum Gui Moran Branch is a pork belly restaurant on Dungchon-daero near Moran Station in Seongnam, Gyeonggi, where staff grill the meat at your table. Two diners ordered the B set (650g of meat) split half pork belly and half pork neck with doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), and ate it with grilled baek-kimchi (white kimchi), wood ear mushrooms and mukbap (acorn jelly in broth). Swapping side dish combinations kept it interesting, and 650g was an easy amount even for two big eaters.
