Korean BBQ in Uman-dong, Suwon with 90s songs and mayo dips: Sarangjip

Today I'm sharing a review of Sarangjip (사랑집), a place full of retro charm :) I was looking for a good meat restaurant near Ajou University and ended up here. I'd heard for a long time that it was tasty, so I came with high hopes, and the meal was even more satisfying than I expected. :) Great songs too, yes!!!

What is the retro 90s atmosphere like at Sarangjip?

The first thing I felt when I walked in was the retro vibe. It reminded me of the pubs from my college days ^^ The interior keeps that old-fashioned feel, so it felt warm and familiar, and I could eat in a relaxed atmosphere. It has a different charm from the meat restaurants you see these days, which made it even more memorable.

How does the meat taste at Sarangjip?

The most satisfying thing at Sarangjip was the taste of the meat. It was really tender and juicy, and I let out an "wow" with the very first bite. :) The best!!! It wasn't tough at all~~, the texture was great so my chopsticks kept going back, and the meat's own flavor really came through, which made it even better. ^^

Dipping Korean BBQ in mayonnaise at Sarangjip

What stood out most was that Sarangjip has you dip the meat in mayonnaise. At first I thought it was a slightly unfamiliar combination, but once I tried it, it went much better than I expected. :) The very~~~~ rich and creamy taste of the mayo brought out the flavor of the meat even more, and it felt like something different and fun. I usually only dip in salt or ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), but here mayonnaise was the combination I remember most. So delicious~~~!!!

Wrapping the meat in perilla leaves

See the photo^^ Wrapping the meat in perilla leaves (kkaennip) was also really good. The fragrant leaf went well with the savory meat and cut the richness, so I never got tired of it until the end. :) With the aroma and crunchy texture of the perilla leaf, the flavor felt even fuller, and I was so happy with it that I made wraps again and again.

How friendly is the staff at Sarangjip?

The staff at Sarangjip were also very kind, so I had a pleasant time throughout the meal. :) They greeted us with bright smiles when we walked in and carefully checked whether we needed anything, so we could eat comfortably. Kindness is the most important thing to me, you know~~~ It was impressive how they kept up friendly service even during busy hours, and that made me like the restaurant even more. ^^

Is Sarangjip a good Korean BBQ pick near Ajou University in Suwon?

Overall, Sarangjip was satisfying in food, service and atmosphere alike. :) It really took me back, and the songs were fun too^^ In a space with lots of retro charm, I enjoyed tender meat, and the special mayo-dipping combination and the perilla leaf wraps were what I remember most. If you're looking for a tasty meat restaurant near Ajou University, I'm happy to recommend Sarangjip with confidence. ^^

Once you visit, I think you'll fully understand why so many people come. I'd also like to come back next time I'm near Ajou University. :) And if you want a good restaurant near the World Cup Stadium, it's Sa-rang-jip!!! Good!!!

One more thing to add: (+) 90s songs were playing, which made the whole meal even more fun. ^^ Hearing familiar melodies brought back memories and lifted the mood, which I loved. Takes you back, right~~? The tasty meat and the retro charm together made it an even more satisfying meal. The music and food went together so well that I'd want to feel this atmosphere again, and I was glad to make happy memories laughing with my friends ^^
