Namyeong-dong wine bar for three: baked brie and Monastrell at B421

I'd been walking past the Namyeong-dong eating alley for ages, always wondering why the sign and the bar's name didn't match, so I finally went to B421 (비421)🧚🏻‍♀️ Turns out it's a popular wine bar with a great atmosphere. There's everything from light snacks that go well with wine to pasta and steak, so it works as a second-round spot and a date spot too :-)

What does B421 look like inside and out?

B421 is a 2-minute walk from Exit 6 of Sookmyung Women's Univ. Station, on the Namyeong eating alley side. The sign is an old-fashioned yellow one, but step inside and it's a hip wine bar with a lovely mood🙌

B421 seating: tables for two, sofas, bar and group tables

The inside of B421 is dark overall and much bigger than I expected. Near the entrance there are mostly tables for two,

and there are also sofa seats where you can drink comfortably.

Go further in and there are bar seats too, so drinking solo is easy.

In front of the bar there are lots of tables for 6 or more, so groups can come too :-) I went around 9 p.m. on a Saturday and it was packed. It seemed like a lot of people come here for a second round.

B421 has light snacks that go well with wine, like cheese, fruit and plates, plus meals such as duck steak, pasta and pizza. Since we came for a second round we ordered light snacks, but I saw good reviews for the pasta and duck steak too!

Unlike most wine bars, B421 has a port wine sampler and lots of port varieties. On top of that there's wine, beer, highballs, whisky, cocktails and more〰️

The free starter snacks at B421 are pretzel crackers and Greek yogurt. Maybe it's meant to line your stomach before you drink...

Dongnae Chingu and Pale Ale beer ₩9,000, highball ₩18,000

We wanted something cold to start, so we ordered beer and a highball. The beer was nicely fizzy and super cold. The highball came with a long rectangular ice cube, and the whisky and tonic were well balanced, so it was refreshing and good!

Baked brie, ₩19,000

We ordered the baked brie because we were on a second round and wanted something light with our drinks. A whole wheel of brie comes topped with maple syrup and cinnamon powder. It's baked in the oven, so it arrives warm with the cheese slightly melted, and it was so good.

It looks like almonds were baked in the oven along with it. Putting the cheese and nuts together on a cracker was sweet and nutty, perfect with drinks. It goes well with wine, beer and highballs alike🙌

Truffle oil fries, ₩11,000

The drinks kept going down, so we ordered one more snack! The truffle fries are crispy, sprinkled with salt so they're nicely salty, and the truffle oil gives them a fancy feel.

Honoro Vera organic Monastrell red wine, ₩45,000

I couldn't resist and ordered a bottle of red wine too😖 There are so many kinds of drinks that I got curious and kept trying things, mixing them up〰️ The atmosphere was so good that the drinks just slid down. The wine was easy-drinking and tasty too!
