Today I met my partner after work for a nice dinner and a long, cozy chat. This time we went to Gildong Gamdong Dining (길동 감동다이닝), located between Gubeundari Station and Gildong Station.

With its soft lighting, snug atmosphere and a range of Japanese dishes, Gildong Gamdong Dining felt like a good spot for a date or a blind date. Here's what we ate and what the place is like~
Where is Gildong Gamdong Dining, and is there parking?
Gildong Gamdong Dining, a space with charming soft lighting

Gildong Gamdong Dining is at 13 Cheonjung-ro 53-gil, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, on the 1st floor. It sits between Gubeundari Station and Gildong Station, so it's a convenient place when you plan an evening meetup nearby.
We used a parking lot near the restaurant. If you're coming by car, it's best to check available spaces and conditions beforehand.

What are the atmosphere and seating like at Gamdong Dining?
The restaurant has soft lighting and a calm mood, and the seating is split into counter seats facing the kitchen, tables for two and tables for four. Once we stepped inside, it was cozier and nicer than it looked from the outside. The gentle lighting wraps the space in warmth, and the overall calm feeling made it easy to relax over a meal.
With everything from counter seats to two-person and four-person tables, it works for a quiet meal for two and also looked fine for a bigger group.
Best of all, it isn't loud or chaotic, so we could take our time and talk. If you're looking for a bar with a good atmosphere among the Gubeundari Station restaurants, I think this one is worth a look!
What drinks does Gamdong Dining serve?
A wide choice of drinks to enjoy with the food

Besides regular soju and beer, the drinks lineup includes whisky, sake, tokkuri (sake carafes), sochu and wine, so you can choose to suit your taste. Not just the food, the drink selection was varied too.
With a nice bar, you sometimes feel you have to order alcohol, but at Gamdong Dining it was also easy to enjoy a dinner centered on the good food.

It would suit a day when you want a light drink, or a date with your partner after work. The mood also fit occasions like a blind date, where the time spent talking matters.
What we ordered for an after-work date at Gamdong Dining

That day we ordered shrimp eggplant, Gamdong aged sashimi and bisque tooma pasta. With everything from Japanese dishes to pasta on the menu, it was fun to taste a variety together.

1. Shrimp-topped grilled eggplant (nasu dengaku), 8 pieces
Gamdong Dining's nasu dengaku is fried eggplant topped with shrimp, grilled and served with awase miso (blended miso). The eggplant-and-shrimp combo was unusual, so I was curious, and the soft eggplant, springy shrimp and the savory depth of the awase miso made it a fun, different bite.
I think it suits people who like eggplant dishes or want something a bit different from the usual drinking snacks. It's easy to share bite by bite, so it was a nice dish to enjoy with my partner.

2. Gamdong aged sashimi, 16 pieces (size S)
Gamdong aged sashimi is an assortment of raw fish made from fresh ingredients sourced that day and then aged. I liked that you get several kinds at once, including tuna, flounder and raw shrimp.
Comparing the different texture and flavor of each aged fish is part of the fun, so if you like sashimi, it works both as a meal and as a snack with drinks.
The neatly plated sashimi also made the whole table look classier. It's a good pick for a date on a special day like an anniversary, when you want to enjoy good raw fish.

3. Bisque (shrimp) Toowoomba pasta
The bisque tooma pasta is made Gamdong Dining style, with a bisque sauce said to be made by stir-frying and simmering crustaceans such as shrimp and crab for about an hour and a half. It combines deep savory seafood flavor with the spicy kick typical of tooma-style pasta.
I liked that you can add pasta instead of eating only Japanese dishes like the aged sashimi and grilled eggplant. With such a varied menu, it should work even if your companions have different tastes.
Is Gildong Gamdong Dining good for a date or blind date?
From dates to a light evening drink

Gildong Gamdong Dining was a good place for a day when you want to enjoy both food and atmosphere. The counter seats and two-person tables make it easy to dine as a pair, and the soft lighting seems to make conversation feel more relaxed.

The wide range of drinks was also appealing: you could spend a slightly special evening with sake or wine, or wrap up the day with a light drink after work.
If you're looking for a Gubeundari Station restaurant, of course, but also if you're planning a blind date or a date in Gildong, it's a space worth considering!
Verdict: an after-work date at Gildong Gamdong Dining

Gildong Gamdong Dining, where we went after work, let us enjoy a variety of dishes in a cozy atmosphere. I liked the wide choice, from dishes with real Japanese charm, like the shrimp eggplant and Gamdong aged sashimi, to the bisque tooma pasta.
With varied seating (counter seats, tables for two and for four) and drinks such as whisky, sake, tokkuri, sochu and wine, it suits many situations. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a Gubeundari Station restaurant or a Gildong bar, and to people who want a date with their partner in a bar with a good atmosphere.
One more note: we used a nearby parking lot for parking, so if you plan to drive, check the parking info beforehand~
