Yeoju steak and iron-pan jjapaguri at Namyeoju Baechu Doenjang-guk
In short
Namyeoju Baechu Doenjang-guk Sukseong Gogi-jip is an aged-beef restaurant in Ganam-eup, Yeoju, Gyeonggi. Four of us, including a child, had tender striploin grilled by the owner, Maldon salt, wasabi, grilled perilla leaves, and jjapaguri finished in the meat pan. Verdict: order the jjapaguri after the striploin for the full meal.

Namyeoju Baechu Doenjang-guk Sukseong Gogi-jip in Ganam-eup, Yeoju
While visiting Yeoju with my child, I was looking for somewhere to have lunch and ended up at Namyeoju Baechu Doenjang-guk Sukseong Gogi-jip (남여주배추된장국 숙성고깃집). There were four of us, including a child, visiting for weekday lunch. I thought it would be quiet because it was a weekday, but tables gradually started filling up. Maybe lots of people stop by after visiting nearby golf courses, or maybe word has already spread that it is a good restaurant—by lunchtime, there were more diners than I expected.
It seemed like a decent stop in particular for anyone looking for meat near Solmoro CC. 😊

There was space to park out front, so it was easy to visit by car. People tend to drive around Yeoju, and being able to park right in front of the restaurant is quietly an important point, you know. 🚗

Once inside, there were more than enough tables and that comfortable, familiar atmosphere of a meat restaurant.

There was also a self-service corner where you could get more side dishes. What caught my eye most, though, was the aging cabinet! True to the name “aged-meat restaurant,” it felt like a place that takes meat aging seriously.

Striploin grilled by the owner

The main dish we had that day was striploin.

As soon as the meat arrived, the marbling caught my eye—it looked delicious at a glance. 🤤 And here was something I really liked! The owner grilled it personally on a properly heated cast-iron pan.
With beef, the timing of the grilling makes such a difference. I get nervous that I will ruin good meat if I flip it myself, haha, so it was comfortable to have it done for us—and, above all, it was grilled so well! As the beef hit the blazing-hot pan, it sizzled and the surface turned beautifully appetizing.
One bite and… wow, it truly melted in my mouth. The striploin's signature tender texture filled my mouth with the rich, nutty flavor of beef! The outside was deliciously seared while the inside stayed soft and juicy, so I kept reaching for more.

Maldon salt with striploin
The coarse crystals of Maldon salt that came with the meal were impressive too.

I tried a little salt on the beef, and I loved the crunchy crystal texture in each bite. Rather than the salt flavor hitting hard and covering the meat, it brought out the beef's nutty flavor while giving little crunchy pops here and there—that was the point! I think beef tastes best with just a light touch of salt instead of dipping it in too many things. 😋
How to eat it with wasabi and grilled perilla leaves
As the owner grilled the meat, he also told us how to eat it deliciously. The most unusual one was the wasabi!

Normally, you put wasabi on top of fully cooked meat, right? Here, he lightly coated the meat with wasabi, letting the two cling together, and grilled them in the pan. Eaten this way, wasabi's sharp kick became much gentler and blended naturally with the beefy flavor.
And there was one more combination I loved!

Try lightly grilling perilla leaves in the pan and wrapping them around the meat. They are completely different from fresh ones. With a striploin slice on a perilla leaf that had absorbed just a little beef fat… it was truly the perfect finishing touch. 💕 I went with my child, and the meat was tender enough for us to enjoy together.
Iron-pan jjapaguri, the final dish with extra beef flavor

After enjoying the meat, the last thing we ordered was jjapaguri, a mixed instant-noodle dish. Honestly, at first I thought, “Isn't jjapaguri just the flavor we already know?” But this jjapaguri was different. They made it using the same iron pan that had cooked the meat.
The beef fat and flavor left in the pan from grilling the striploin were added straight in! The appetizing brown flavor created when meat is grilled over high heat is often explained by the Maillard reaction. Those delicious browned bits stuck to the bottom after cooking meat are also called fond in cooking. Stir-frying jjapaguri right in that pan gave it a clearly different depth of flavor from simply boiling instant noodles.

It also came with suji (beef tendon) topping, adding a pleasant chew and extra richness.
Jjapaguri with satisfyingly chewy noodles

They stir-fried the jjapaguri in the iron pan until the sauce reduced to just the right amount, and it gradually clung tightly to the noodles. I lifted a chopstickful and tried it, and… wait, can jjapaguri be this good? Haha. The noodles were not soft or soggy, but had exactly the springy, chewy texture I love, with a perfect balance of spice and sweetness.
With the rich beef-fat flavor from the meat pan added in, it was definitely different from the jjapaguri I usually make at home! Personally, the striploin was wonderful too, but it felt like the meal was not properly complete until I had the final jjapaguri. 😂 I would have been a little disappointed if I had skipped it because I was full.
If you are looking for meat near Solmoro CC
Even though we visited at weekday lunch, diners kept coming in while we ate, so it seemed to be a popular nearby dining spot. From striploin grilled beautifully for us to Maldon salt, wasabi, grilled perilla leaves, and the final jjapaguri, it was not just a meal that ended with meat. It was fun in that “Oh, it tastes even better eaten this way?” kind of way.
Especially for people like me who are not confident grilling beef, having the owner cook it deliciously himself seems like a major advantage. If you are looking for a meat restaurant near Yeoju Premium Outlets or somewhere near Solmoro CC to stop before or after a golf round, Namyeoju Baechu Doenjang-guk Sukseong Gogi-jip could be worth checking out. 😊 If I go back, I will have the striploin again… and I will absolutely order the jjapaguri too. 🍜❤️
