The first thing I noticed walking in was the waiting area. It was mostly white-toned, with marble-look tables and comfortable chairs, giving off an overall clean and bright feel.

There was even a photo booth and photo zone to snap a shot in once your hair was done.

The consultation: last month's CS curl came out too strong

Before the service, I sat down for a consultation with senior designer Jiyeon first. While filling out a new client chart, she carefully went over my usual hair concerns and the style I wanted. My hair naturally has some curl and takes perms easily, and my main concern was that it gets frizzy when I dry it myself. I also mentioned that a month earlier I'd had a CS-curl perm done and the curl had come out stronger than I expected — a bit of a letdown.

When I told her the style I wanted, she suggested a natural mix of volume-rich C-curls and S-curls. After checking my current hair condition and damage level, she recommended going with the Re-born repair perm instead of a regular perm!

The test perm before the main service

Since I mentioned my hair takes perms easily, she ran a test perm before doing the main service. After checking how my hair reacted to the chemicals and process, she adjusted the curl accordingly, so the whole thing was done more carefully to match the style I wanted.

There were several drink options — Americano, welcome tea, peach iced tea, idol honey green tea, etc. — and I picked the idol honey green tea (this stuff is so good).

My hair gets wound onto the biggest rollers. Once the final repair step is done, that's it!! She also carefully explained how to dry my hair afterward.

Even while wet, the curl was already holding naturally, and once dried, it came out in that natural mix of C-curls and S-curls I'd asked about during the consultation. I'd been worried about damage from frequent perms and dyeing, but my hair felt noticeably softer to the touch compared to before, and the curl went in naturally without being too strong, just like I wanted. What I liked most: my usual struggle with frizz after drying it myself was solved, since this felt like a flat-iron perm that holds its shape just from air-drying.

It came out as the natural, volume-rich C-curl + S-curl mix perm I wanted — personally I'm so, so happy with it.
