Daegu Korean restaurant: 3rd in line for stone galbi, Bujasikdang
In short
Banwoldang Bujasikdang is a fire-grilled Korean restaurant near Exit 20 of Banwoldang Station in Jung-gu, Daegu. On a weekday after 1 PM, the writer was third in the queue and ate 2 servings of Buja stone galbi (marinated short ribs grilled on a stone plate) with 6 side dishes, black rice and lettuce wraps. Banwoldang Bujasikdang's Buja stone galbi was tender throughout, with a sweet marinade that pairs well with crisp shredded scallions.

Banwoldang Bujasikdang (반월당부자식당) is a Korean restaurant in Daegu that I go back to regularly.
Where is Banwoldang Bujasikdang, and where do you park?
Banwoldang Bujasikdang is a fire-grilled Korean restaurant a 1-minute walk from Exit 20 of Banwoldang Station. A few cars can park in front, but the nearby alleys are narrow, so it's better to park in a paid lot or similar and walk over.

It has been all over the media. Besides TV shows like Live Tonight (생방송 오늘 저녁) and KBS's Saengsaeng Jeongbotong (생생정보통), it gets introduced a lot on Instagram Reels and the like!

Look at the entrance and you can see lots of celebrities and Daegu FC players have been here!

How long is the lunch wait at Banwoldang Bujasikdang?
There's a wait at lunchtime pretty much every day. It's a real soul food for office workers. I deliberately went after 1 PM and still got waiting number 3 before being seated.

You enter your number on the waiting machine, and if you stay nearby they call your phone. Because of complaints, the waiting spot is also designated, so if you end up waiting, just follow the notice!

Seating and group tables
The hall has 4-person tables pushed together and 2-person tables, so groups of 2 to 8 can eat in the hall. It was packed with customers the day I visited.

There's also one room with two 8-person tables side by side (a group was at the next table). So it fits up to 16 people for company dinners or group meals!

They ran only in Banwoldang for a long time, then newly opened a Suseong direct-run branch. It's spacious, with parking and group reservations possible, so if you want a more comfortable meal you can go there! I hear they don't run franchise branches, to protect taste and quality.

What to order at Banwoldang Bujasikdang
The popular dishes here are the fire-grilled Buja stone galbi and the stir-fry of squid and jeyuk (spicy pork) grilled over fire. I'd had the squid-pork stir-fry (oje bokkeum) before, and today I was craving stone galbi, so I ordered Buja stone galbi. Rice is separate!

Basic table setting and 6 side dishes
The basic setting, everything except the stone galbi, comes out first. I brought the lettuce from the self bar.

Only the lettuce is self-serve. The rest is set for you when your waiting number is called, so go in and they'll set it up! The cheonggukjang doenjang stew (pungent fermented soybean stew) is boiled and comes out a little later.

Pickled onion, seasoned radish

Candied burdock, seasoned bean sprouts

Stir-fried seaweed stems and cheonggukjang doenjang stew. That makes 6 side dishes in all.
How does the Buja stone galbi taste?
We ordered 2 servings of Buja stone galbi and 2 bowls of rice.

Here's the whole spread, with the Buja stone galbi out! The rice comes as black rice~

The Buja stone galbi comes sizzling on the stone plate, grilled with onion and enoki mushrooms and topped with scallion strips! It's crackling away on the stone.

There was nothing tough about it at all. The meat was tender and good, and the base marinade had a sweet flavor, so it was delicious!! The tender meat with the crunchy scallion made a fantastic texture combo.

The lettuce was fresh and can be refilled at the self bar, so wrapping up bite after bite with the various side dishes and meat was so good!! Next time I'll have to come back and go all in on the spicy fire-grilled oje stir-fry~
Would I go back to Banwoldang Bujasikdang?
Banwoldang Bujasikdang is Banwoldang's signature Korean restaurant, so I'll stop by again to taste that spicy fire-grilled flavor. If you haven't been to Bujasikdang yet, it's a Daegu Korean restaurant you absolutely have to visit~
