Gwanggyojungang Station poke lunch: whole wheat pasta bowl at Salading

Salading Gwanggyojungang Station branch is a poke and salad restaurant on the third basement floor of a shopping complex at Gwanggyojungang Station in Suwon. On a visit for two, the writer had the Atlantic raw salmon bibim poke (a mixed poke bowl) on a whole wheat pasta base with Salading's spicy bibim sauce for 13,900 won and the fresh salmon salad wrap for 7,900 won; the generous vegetables were filling and the wrap didn't turn soggy. Salading Gwanggyojungang Station branch is a good pick for Gwanggyo office workers and solo diners who want a hearty, healthy lunch.

Air-conditioned Yongin kalguksu restaurant at peak summer lunch: Yubok

Yubok Kalguksu Yongin Korean Folk Village Branch (유복칼국수 용인민속촌점) is a seafood kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant on Minsokchon-ro in Giheung-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi, right in front of the Korean Folk Village. At the peak of a hot summer lunch hour, the writer had the kalguksu jjukkumi set (₩15,000 per person) for two. The dining room was packed but well air-conditioned, the deep broth was full of mideoduk (sea squirt) and clams, and the spicy jjukkumi (small octopus) mixed with barley rice was a highlight. With wide parking out front and a dessert corner offering snacks, coffee and an ice machine, Yubok Kalguksu earned the writer's plan to return.
