Nambu Terminal chicken with soupy tteokbokki and garlic soy: Kkanbu

Today I'm introducing Kkanbu Chicken (깐부치킨), a great chicken spot near Nambu Terminal and the Seoul Arts Center :)

Say Kkanbu Chicken and all I can think of is Jensen Huang, haha. I didn't know this brand before him either, but the chicken is so good and the prices are such good value that I order delivery now and then, and I've visited in person too.

Where is Kkanbu Chicken Nambu Terminal Branch, and what are the hours?

Kkanbu Chicken Nambu Terminal Branch is close to Exit 1 of Nambu Terminal Station. Come out, go straight, then turn right right away and you'll see it. Hours are 15:00–02:00, last order is at 01:20, and there are no days off.

There are also outdoor seats on the terrace right in front of the restaurant. Parking is available nearby! It's a real neighborhood favorite that has held the same spot for 12 years.

Can you hold a group gathering at Kkanbu Chicken Nambu Terminal Branch?

The inside is really spacious, so I think lots of groups come. In fact there were plenty of reservations for group dinners, like university student groups and other gatherings.

The weather was cool, so I thought about eating on the terrace, but I worried it would get cold after dark, so we came inside, hehe. The restroom is inside the building and it's clean.

Kkanbu Chicken best menu, sides and drinks

Kkanbu's best menu has four items: the crunchy Six Pack, garlic soy boneless chicken, Crispy, and Ppasak Curry. I wavered over the Six Pack, which Ibongjobong (the writer's nickname) sometimes eats, but went with the garlic soy I hadn't tried~ By the way, I almost never eat boneless chicken, but I've learned that boneless is the best at Kkanbu.

Sides include seasonal fruit, dried snacks, tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), spicy chicken feet, dried pollack, sweet potato cheese balls, crunchy chewy corn dogs and cheese sticks, plenty to go with drinks.

Drinks like Sapporo, Kirin, Suntory highballs and Jim Beam highballs seem to always have some promotion running~!

How does the garlic soy boneless chicken at Kkanbu Chicken taste?

The garlic soy boneless chicken is coated generously in sauce and is still super crispy, with a spicy aroma and flavor. Wow.. look at that! Almost every table had this dish, so I thought, let's see how good it really is! And it was insanely good. I liked that I could smell and taste the spiciness, and it's so crispy.. all that sauce and still crunchy!

The garlic soy boneless chicken also comes with crispy fried rice cakes mixed in. I think kids would love it. There's no chicken breast, it's all thigh meat, so it was perfect for me since I don't like dry, stiff meat ♥

Now I see why it's the signature menu with so many fans..♥ A slightly salty yet sweet special soy sauce, plus the sharp flavor of garlic! It soaks in deeply, so the savory depth is crazy. And then a little spiciness follows = I'm done for. It's the kind of flavor you never tire of and keep reaching for.

Would garlic soy boneless chicken work as chibap (chicken over rice)?

The garlic soy boneless chicken has sweet, salty and spicy all in the seasoning itself and isn't mild, so I think it would be great as chibap (chicken with rice). While eating it, white rice naturally came to mind.. Next time I think I'll have it with rice. I get the feeling that eating it as chibap would be heavenly.

Does Kkanbu Chicken's soupy tteokbokki go well with chicken?

I ordered Kkanbu's spicy, tangy tteokbokki as a side! It's a soupy tteokbokki, so there's a lot of broth.

Kkanbu's tteokbokki has fish cake, long rice cakes and round rice cakes in it, and it's spicy by default. The chewy noodle-wheat rice cakes~ it's fun picking out what you like, haha.

And it's fairly spicy, so I thought it paired well with the chicken. The tangy yet sweet broth kind of cuts the greasiness.. so I scooped up a lot of the broth with my spoon, lol.
