Gijang, Busan snow crab restaurant with a parking ticket: 2kg ₩160,000
In short
Gijang Myeongpum Daegae is a snow crab and king crab restaurant at the entrance to the snow crab alley at Gijang Market in Busan. Two of us picked 2kg of snow crab from the tank for about ₩160,000 (market price at the time of visit). Gijang Myeongpum Daegae weighs only the crab, with the basket's weight subtracted, and gives a parking ticket for the public lot. It's an easy stop after browsing Gijang Market.

If you're looking for a snow crab restaurant near Gijang Market in Busan, I went to Gijang Myeongpum Daegae while out in the Gijang area and finally had snow crab again after a long while 🦀 Gijang really does mean snow crab, haha. This spot is right where all the crab restaurants cluster near Gijang Market, so it wasn't hard to find at all!
We visited as a couple and the 2kg snow crab came to about ₩160,000. The portion was plenty for two, and I felt like this is about what you should order if you really love snow crab!!
Location and hours of Gijang Myeongpum Daegae
Gijang Myeongpum Daegae is located at 5 Chaseong-dongno 73beon-gil, Gijang-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan, right at the entrance to the snow crab alley of Gijang Market. Hours are 10:00–21:00.
A great spot to stop by while browsing Gijang Market!!

Out front there's a tank full of snow crab and king crab, so your expectations rise before you even step inside. They also serve king crab and lobster, not just snow crab, so I heard a lot of people looking for king crab in Gijang, Busan come here too, haha.

They currently run every day, but it's probably a good idea to check hours or make a reservation before visiting?? They were open during Chuseok too~~~
Parking at the public lot, and yes, we got a parking ticket
Gijang Myeongpum Daegae has its own private parking lot, and they also issue a parking ticket if you use the public parking lot. This time we parked at the public lot.

We drove there and parked first, and when we mentioned we'd used the public parking lot they gave us a parking ticket, which took the sting out of the parking fee! Parking around Gijang Market can be a bit stressful on weekends or busy hours, so this was a relief. They do have their own lot, but depending on the situation, using the public lot and getting the ticket seems like a good option too!
Picking snow crab straight from the tank, weighed without the basket
Once you step inside Gijang Myeongpum Daegae, there's a tank lined with live snow crab that you can pick yourself. We were visiting as two, so we chose about 2kg of snow crab.

Snow crab prices change with market rates, so the price can vary depending on when you visit, but at our visit 2kg came to about ₩160,000~~ What I personally liked was that when weighing the crab, they exclude the basket's weight and check the actual crab weight. Since the price depends on weight, being able to confirm this myself was reassuring.
Eating 2kg of snow crab properly as a couple 🦀

After a short wait, the snow crab we'd picked came out steamed. As always, the crab is visually overwhelming the moment it arrives lol. It was already cleaned enough to make eating easy, so we each grabbed a leg and dug in properly.

The leg meat sliding out clean along the grain is the best part, haha. Once you pull the meat out and try it, you get that subtle sweetness of snow crab along with a savory saltiness, and the meat was pretty generous, so it was fun picking through each leg one by one.

We ordered 2kg for two, and eating slowly, we ended up fuller than expected. Before eating snow crab you think 'will this actually fill me up?' but once you start, picking apart each leg takes quite a while lol.
The crab shell and fried rice you can't skip

And of course, after the snow crab, the finale is the shell... Scraping out every bit of the tomalley inside the shell brings out a rich, nutty flavor that really completes the snow crab experience...

Dipping crab meat lightly into the tomalley is delicious too, and finishing with fried rice is just right!

Gijang Myeongpum Daegae also runs a self-bar, so you can grab simple side dishes or salad while you wait for the crab.
Would it work for a family gathering near Gijang Market?
Gijang Myeongpum Daegae's interior is bigger than expected, so while it's nice for two people, it also looked good for families.

I heard a lot of people in the Gijang area come with their parents for a drive and a meal together, so if your family likes snow crab or king crab, pairing a walk through Gijang Market with a crab meal could make a nice plan!

So if you're looking for a Gijang Market restaurant for a family gathering, this seems worth checking out at least once. Since crab prices change with the day's market rate, just keep in mind the ₩160,000 I paid for 2kg was the price at the time of my visit!!
If you're looking for snow crab in Gijang, Busan

Maybe because it had been a while since I'd had snow crab, finishing 2kg cleanly between the two of us felt very satisfying 🦀 For anyone looking for a place to eat snow crab near Gijang Market, or searching for snow crab or king crab restaurants in Gijang, Busan, this spot is convenient in terms of location and parking, and above all I liked being able to pick the crab myself and check the actual weight before ordering. A good place to stop by when you want to properly enjoy snow crab during a trip or drive to Gijang :)
