Songdo bakery café: house-boiled red bean ang-butter bun, Cozy Bear
In short
Cafe Cozy Bear Salt Bread Bakery is a salt bread bakery café in the Songdo hagwon (academy) district of Yeonsu, Incheon. At Cozy Bear, the writer had the ang-butter salt bread (salt bread filled with red bean paste and butter), described as made with domestic red beans boiled in-store, alongside an iced Americano that cleanly cut the buttery richness left on the palate. For a light pairing of salty bread, sweet red bean and coffee, Cozy Bear's ang-butter salt bread is a great fit.

If you want a cup of coffee and really good bread in Songdo, this place is worth keeping an eye on! 🧸 Today's spot is Cozy Bear in Songdo, known for its wide variety of salt bread (shio pan-style rolls). It's a bakery café selling not just regular salt bread but ang-butter (red bean and butter) salt bread, garlic salt bread, pollock roe salt bread and more. I went and had the ang-butter salt bread and an iced Americano. I figured bread lovers would be curious, so I'm sharing it, haha.

A salt bread bakery café in Songdo with a cute name

The name alone is cute, haha. It's a bakery café that specializes in salt bread, so it's a nice stop for bread lovers. These days when I go to a café I tend to have a good dessert instead of just coffee, and a wide choice of breads makes picking half the fun, haha. Besides the basic salt bread, they sell several flavors, so it's a great place to choose by taste!

What kinds of salt bread does Cozy Bear sell?
They sell a wide range, from ang-butter salt bread to garlic, pollock roe, potato and castella (sponge cake) salt bread. The plain salt bread we're all used to is good, but breads with other ingredients added have their own different charm!
What I ordered: ang-butter salt bread and an iced Americano

What I ordered that day was the ang-butter salt bread and an iced Americano~ Salt bread's charm is its nutty butter flavor and saltiness, and then red bean and butter get added on top. How could that combo not be good, haha. When I'm eating something sweet, an Americano is a must. A glass of iced Americano seemed to cleanly wipe away the butter flavor left in my mouth, so I picked bread and coffee as my pairing.

One piece of bread and a cup of coffee might not seem like much, but it quietly refreshes your mood. A bakery café is nice because you can enjoy the bread as the main thing and have coffee with it too!
What does Cozy Bear's ang-butter salt bread taste like?

Cozy Bear's ang-butter salt bread brings together the sweetness of red bean, the nutty, soft flavor of butter and the signature saltiness of salt bread. If you like ang-butter, this should be a familiar and welcome one.

It caught my eye even more because it's introduced as using domestic red beans boiled in the store. The place is also known for caring about ingredients like the butter and salt used in the bread!! If you prefer salty bread meeting sweet red bean over a dessert that's just very sweet, this is a good one to pick, haha.

I think it suits people like me who want a simple dessert with coffee! Next time I'd like to try the plain salt bread and other kinds too. Picking different flavors would make it fun to compare each one.
Why an iced Americano with ang-butter salt bread?

Items with red bean and butter, like ang-butter salt bread, have a sweet, nutty flavor, so personally I think they go well with an Americano! The drink you choose with bread matters more than you'd think. A sip of cold Americano with sweet bread and dessert time is complete!
Lattes and sweet drinks are good too, but when you want to enjoy the taste of the bread itself, a basic Americano seems like the safe choice. It also seems a fine stop in Songdo for a light coffee after a meal, or when you want to take bread to go.
