Today I'm sharing a truly good Korean restaurant that filled me up with a carefully laid-out, healthy meal, warm and gentle all the way down. 🤍

This time I went to Hyangtaek Daebong Branch (향택 대봉점) in Daebong-dong, Daegu, known for its tidy menu and classic, elegant atmosphere!

It was way better than I expected, so let's get straight into the visit review!

How were the Spanish mackerel gondre rice and mushroom pancake?
🐟 Mild and nutty in perfect balance! I ordered the restaurant's signature set meal, the Spanish mackerel gondre rice.

After ordering I looked around: the space had a soft, sentimental mood, and above all the clean, hygienic open kitchen was in plain view, which gave me a lot of trust in the carefully made food!

When the neatly set table arrived, I couldn't help exclaiming, "Wow, I really found a proper Kim Kwang-seok Street rice restaurant!" 🤎
My order was 2 Spanish mackerel gondre rice bowls (₩14,000 × 2 = ₩28,000), plus the whole-pan mushroom pancake I got free through the Naver review event.

Spanish mackerel gondre rice
🐟 Thick, mild chunks of Spanish mackerel meet the earthy aroma of gondre, and every bite spreads a nutty, faintly sweet flavor. It felt like being served a lovingly made, healthy meal.

Whole-pan mushroom pancake (Naver review event freebie)
🍄 The mushroom pancake from the Naver review event was a real standout treat!

The chewy texture is an art form. When rice alone felt a little plain, a bite of it on the side was the icing on the cake.
Thanks to the combo of mild mackerel gondre rice and the chewy, butter-scented mushroom pancake, I enjoyed it cleanly and happily to the very last bite. 🥰
Atmosphere and open kitchen at Hyangtaek Daebong Branch
✨ The restaurant is clean and spacious with an open kitchen, so you can see the cooks working carefully with fresh ingredients past the counter, which made me trust the food even more. The space put my mind at ease.

The dishes were gentle and neat rather than harsh, so my stomach felt comfortable and my heart warm. A perfect meal. The location is also ideal for a stroll around Bangcheon Market or Kim Kwang-seok Street afterward! 👍
