In short
With Gopchang & Makchang Dongseong-ro Branch is a gopchang restaurant in Jung-gu, Daegu, with second-floor terrace seating. We shared two portions of cheesy vegetable gopchang, beer, and fried rice. Verdict: a lovely breezy stop for gopchang and a beer.

A vegetable gopchang spot tucked into a Dongseong-ro alley
Summer is finally over, and cool, breezy weather has arrived. When the sun goes down and the air is this nice, having a cold beer at a yajaeng, or open-air drinking spot, is practically the rule, right?!! So my spouse and I went looking for a good outdoor restaurant and found With Gopchang & Makchang Dongseong-ro Branch (위드곱창&막창 동성로점) in Dongseong-ro!

It seems there are fewer vegetable gopchang restaurants than there used to be, because they are not easy to find these days... It was a dish I absolutely loved in college, you know... So I was really glad that With Gopchang, a vegetable gopchang spot, is still around in Dongseong-ro. I pinned it on the map and headed over, and it was farther into the alley than I expected. Turn just slightly in from the main road and you will see the entrance, so do not get confused! The exact address is 28-13 Dongseong-ro 4-gil, second floor!!

The second-floor terrace yajaeng atmosphere
Inside, there were flashy lights and a slightly hip vibe?? The place was nice and spacious too~~. But above all, there was one seating area at With Gopchang & Makchang Dongseong-ro Branch that I especially wanted to show you. It was, of course~!!

The yajaeng seats!! My spouse absolutely loves yajaeng. Since it is on the second floor, it is not a totally open-air setup, but it is on a terrace, so the breeze comes through nicely and it is great for looking outside while having gopchang and a beer! Before this perfectly lovely weather disappears, hurry over and make sure you get that yajaeng feeling too!!

Two portions of cheesy vegetable gopchang and beer
The main dishes at With Gopchang & Makchang included vegetable gopchang (+ cheese), stir-fried sundae, grilled makchang, seasoned grilled makchang, and teriyaki grilled makchang. We ordered two portions of cheesy vegetable gopchang, our favorite. I had not originally planned to drink beer, but once I thought about eating vegetable gopchang at a yajaeng, I ordered it anyway... haha... You can also get patbingsu, or shaved ice with sweet red beans, for free through the review event, so be sure to leave a review and have some patbingsu!!

The complimentary sides and extra steamed-egg note
With Gopchang's basic side dishes!! We got ssam, or wrap leaves, which are essential with vegetable gopchang, plus corn, beondegi (silkworm pupae), pickled onions, fruit punch, and steamed egg. Sadly, the steamed egg is free at first, but extra orders cost more, so keep that in mind!!

A taste of vegetable gopchang loaded with cheese
Our cheesy vegetable gopchang finally arrived!! There was soooo much cheese on top of the gopchang. Can you see that stretchy cheese?!! There were plump little pieces of gopchang and dangmyeon, or glass noodles, another vegetable-gopchang essential! The cabbage and assorted vegetables were all nicely stir-fried in a delicious sauce. It made me so happy to have vegetable gopchang and a cold beer at a yajaeng for the first time in a while, haha.

It was so good that my spouse ate really enthusiastically too. Usually, they say they are full after eating only a little and do not eat much, but that day the two of us really tucked into the vegetable gopchang, haha. I do not know why, but there really are not many vegetable gopchang places in Daegu ㅠㅠ. Grilled gopchang is good too, but I prefer it stir-fried like this. It is not just me, right...?

Fried rice is the essential vegetable gopchang finale
Finally~~ the indispensable finish when you have vegetable gopchang! Fried rice!!! When you order it, they take the pan away, fry it themselves, and bring it back. The rice was nicely fluffy and topped generously with gim, or roasted seaweed flakes. It is a combination that simply cannot fail, so we scraped up every last bit for the perfect finish.

We had such a filling vegetable gopchang meal. It was a delicious vegetable gopchang-and-beer moment for the first time in a while. The cool yajaeng atmosphere was a wonderful bonus too!! Interestingly, With Gopchang has a rabbit that commutes to and from work with the owner. Its name is Timo, apparently. Watching Timo while we waited for our food was fun too.
