Why we went back to Siyudang in Cheonan after my son's midterms

Siyudang in Pungse-myeon, Cheonan, is a brunch café I visited last June to see the pretty daisies. This time my son had just finished his midterms, so we went back for a drive and a tasty brunch to celebrate.

Maybe because it was a date with my son after all his hard work, I was in a good mood from the moment we left. Even though I'd been before, it felt nice to return, and I was full of excitement about the stylish space and good food! Today I'll introduce Siyudang, the Cheonan brunch café where we spent a relaxed time together.

Where is Siyudang, and is parking easy?

The address is 99-18 Hyuyangnim-gil, Pungse-myeon, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan. No parking worries here: you can park in front of the café building, and the lot is fairly large, which is great.

Siyudang is a big bakery brunch café on Hyuyangnim-gil in Pungse-myeon, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan, Chungnam. The large building catches your eye from far away, and with its sleek exterior, wide windows and terrace, you start taking photos the moment you arrive, haha.

A big tree greets you right at the entrance. Siyudang is busy getting ready for Christmas too. It's a large café stretching from the 1st floor up to the 4th-floor rooftop, so just looking around is a lot of fun.

It goes beyond an ordinary café with just bread and coffee. It's a place where you can spend a relaxed time over brunch. The windmill decoration on top of the building especially catches the eye, and it makes you wonder what the view from the 4th-floor rooftop will be like. It's a very visual café.

There are outdoor tables even before you go inside, so on days like these you could happily take your time over brunch outdoors.

Christmas from October: inside Siyudang

Stepping inside Siyudang, I loved the calm yet warm atmosphere. From the entrance, this Cheonan café is already in full Christmas mode, in October!

Siyudang has a wide range of brunch dishes and drinks. So many choices!

There's also a great variety of bakery items and cakes. Here's what my son and I ordered today:

What are Siyudang's 2nd- and 3rd-floor seats like?

The 2nd floor has wood-toned interiors with soft lighting, so it feels comfortable. The space is wide with a variety of tables, so it looked great for family visits or get-togethers with friends.

As in the photos, there are tiered seating areas and cozy tables, so you can pick a spot to suit your taste, which I liked. When sunlight comes through the windows, the light reaches all the way down to the floor and the mood gets even cozier.

We went up to the 3rd floor and settled in. The 3rd-floor tables have that big-window view too, and sitting across from my son, eating good food and chatting about this and that, I was perfectly happy even without any other plans.

Siyudang's terrace and 4th-floor windmill rooftop getting ready for Christmas

One of Siyudang's charms is its open outdoor space. Step onto the terrace and you see green mountains and blue sky all at once, a relaxed feeling that's hard to find in a city café.

Looking at the green trees, even a complicated mind feels lighter! On a nice day, just having a coffee on the terrace seems like it would be healing.

The space I was most looking forward to on this visit was the 4th-floor windmill rooftop. They were in the middle of preparing the Christmas tree decorations. I captured a shot of them hard at work, and even unfinished, it was already full of anticipation. How pretty will the windmill rooftop garden be once the Christmas decorations are added?

I think the finished look will be like a scene from a fairy tale. It's a place that makes me want to come back for the Christmas atmosphere once it's all decorated. This time I only caught a glimpse of the preparations, but I definitely want to see the finished 4th-floor windmill garden.

Sitting on the 2nd or 3rd floor? Use the 1st-floor trolley

For those enjoying food and drinks on the 2nd and 3rd floors, the 1st floor prepares a trolley for brunch dishes, and you can take the elevator and get to your table very comfortably.

How does Siyudang's beef belly perilla cream pasta taste?

Siyudang's beef belly perilla cream pasta is a rich cream sauce with thin-sliced beef belly and the fresh fragrance of perilla leaves (kkaennip). The smooth cream sauce coated the noodles moistly, and the beef belly added a savory depth.

With the distinctive fragrance of perilla added, the heaviness of the cream pasta turned fresh and bright. Big cherry tomatoes on top made it look appetizing too.

Siyudang's ricotta salad, a good match for the pasta

Siyudang's ricotta salad has fresh-looking greens topped generously with cherry tomatoes and white ricotta cheese. The ricotta peeking through the green leaves looked delicious, and the balsamic sauce made the colors very pretty.

Soft, mild ricotta with the fresh crunch of vegetables and the sweet-tart balsamic really refreshed my appetite. Having salad between bites of rich cream pasta made it even better.

Ordering pasta and salad together also balanced the flavors. When choosing brunch, adding a salad makes it look nicer and doubles the fun of eating.

Siyudang's signature Siyu black tea and iced tangerine ginger

If you come to Siyudang, you can't miss the signature drink! A red drink packed with ice looks refreshing just to look at, right? It goes well with brunch, and its pretty color is a highlight in photos. The vivid color in the glass made the food photos brighter too.

The iced tangerine ginger is a drink with layered colors and soft cream that catches the eye. The cream covering the top of the glass looked delicious, and with the deep color below, it was attractive at first sight. Enjoying the cream and drink together gave a different flavor within a single cup.

These drinks carry Siyudang's own mood, so they were nice to enjoy with brunch. Pretty drinks and tasty brunch added the joy of looking to the joy of eating, and it was a lovely meal with my son.

Verdict: a brunch date with my son at Siyudang in Cheonan

Last June I came to Siyudang for the daisies, and this time I returned to enjoy brunch with my son. Even as the seasons change, I love that you can relax in a wide, stylish space. There's fun in exploring from the 1st floor to the 4th-floor windmill rooftop, with a warm mood indoors and open views from the outdoor terrace.

With the tasty beef belly perilla cream pasta, ricotta salad and signature drinks, we had a proper brunch date. Best of all, my son had finished his midterms and we drove out together and ate good food.

Time with our kids can feel like something we always take for granted, but moments of sitting across from each other, laughing and talking, are precious, aren't they? And I'm looking forward to the 4th-floor Christmas windmill garden being prepared now. Once it's finished, I think the atmosphere will be far more special, haha.

If you're looking for a good café in Cheonan or a Cheonan brunch café for a relaxed meal, Siyudang is worth saving. You can enjoy brunch in a big space, take in the scenery from the terrace, and take pretty photos.
