What are the atmosphere and seating like at Donbegi Gwang-an Branch?
The exterior is done in wood tones, which felt warm and stylish. I loved it from the first glance 😍

Inside, the restaurant was tidy and the tables were spaced widely, so eating was comfortable. There are also rooms for groups, so it looked great for a family gathering or a company dinner.

Among Gwangalli pork BBQ places, one with this much atmosphere seemed rare ✨

On one side there's an aging fridge where you can actually see the meat aging, which really gives it the feel of an aged-meat specialist 👍

There's also a self-serve bar, so you can grab more side dishes whenever you run out, which was nice.
What should four people order at Donbegi Gwang-an Branch?
The four of us ordered the 800 mixed set (₩74,000), a set for four that comes with shoulder rack, pork neck and pork belly. For the meal part we added Geumsa cold kimchi kalguksu (noodles, ₩7,000) and ttukbaegi kalguksu (noodles in a stone pot, ₩6,000).

- 800 mixed set (shoulder rack, pork belly, pork neck) / ₩74,000
- Geumsa cold kimchi kalguksu / ₩7,000
- Ttukbaegi kalguksu / ₩6,000
We ordered the four-person set with shoulder rack, pork neck and pork belly. We swapped the pork belly for snowflake pork belly (눈꽃오겹살).

They also sell shoulder rack and French rack, which are hard to find at other BBQ places, so it felt a bit more special. The staff explained that shoulder rack is lean and can be enjoyed clean and mild, and I was looking forward to it 😋

Best of all, the staff grilled the meat for us from start to finish 💯 We didn't have to worry about timing, and could just chat and wait 😊
480-hour aged meat: you can taste the difference in one bite 🔥
The meat at Donbegi Gwang-an Branch is aged for 480 hours, so they say it's delicious even when only about 80% cooked. Even though the pork belly is thick, the first piece the staff handed us to try was really tender.

Seeing how thick the meat was, I thought grilling would take quite a while, but they told us that because it's 480-hour aged meat, it's good at only about 80% done.

The staff gave us a piece to taste first, and one bite surprised me 😍 It was so tender. Maybe because it's aged, the texture was clearly different 💯

It got juicier the more I chewed and the meat was really soft, so I instantly understood why people seek out aged meat 😍 The pork neck was moist without any dryness, and the shoulder rack was mild and nutty, with its own charm. The snowflake pork belly added a rich, savory flavor and never got boring until the end.

The basic side dishes were all neat and went well with the meat, which I liked.
How were the cold kimchi kalguksu and ttukbaegi kalguksu after the meat?
After finishing the meat at Donbegi Gwang-an Branch, we ordered cold kimchi kalguksu and ttukbaegi kalguksu for the meal 😋 The cold kimchi kalguksu was sweet and tangy, a clean finish on a hot day, and the ttukbaegi kalguksu, with its refreshing broth, was a hearty way to wrap up.

I'd never seen cold kimchi kalguksu before, so I ordered it out of curiosity, and it was much better than I expected 👍 The sweet and tangy broth seasoning woke up my appetite, and with the chewy noodles it was really good for a hot day. After eating meat, it made for an even cleaner finish.

The ttukbaegi kalguksu can be ordered from mild to spicy, and the broth was refreshing and the noodles chewy, a hearty finish 😄 From the main meat to the meal dishes, nothing fell short, and all four of us left full.
