Dangjin café for cream latte and chestnut tiramisu: Mimi Coffee Mill

While looking for an atmospheric café in Dangjin, I visited Mimi Coffee Mill (미미커피방앗간) in Sunseong-myeon. I went without especially high expectations, but after trying the MIMI Cream Latte and chestnut tiramisu, it became a place I kept thinking about.

Where is Mimi Coffee Mill, and is parking available?

The address is 1064 Nambu-ro, Sunseong-myeon, Dangjin, Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea. There is free parking in front of the café, so it was easy to stop by by car. It is also in a decent location to pair with nearby sights such as Ami Art Museum or Myeoncheon Eupseong Fortress.

When the original post was written, the listed hours were 10:00–21:00 from Monday through Saturday and 10:00–20:00 on Sunday. Last orders were listed as 20:00 and 19:00 respectively.

What stood out inside the café?

The green sign inside caught my eye in particular. I liked the interior too, and the name Coffee Mill gave the place a friendly feeling.

I heard that “Mimi” combines mi (米), meaning rice—a representative agricultural product of Dangjin—and mi (味), meaning taste. “Coffee Mill” was added as a Korean-style expression for a coffee-roasting space. There were a variety of desserts and cakes in addition to bread.

What did the MIMI Cream Latte taste like?

I was deciding between regular misutgaru (multigrain powder) and the signature MIMI Cream Latte, then chose the latte. The slightly bitter coffee came together with soft cream and the nutty flavor of misutgaru. The familiar misutgaru flavor made it feel different from a typical cream latte.

I think it would suit anyone who likes nutty drinks. On my next visit, I would like to try the sweet potato gelato too. I did not try it this time, but I heard it is popular along with the MIMI Cream Latte.

I was told that the key is to drink the MIMI Cream Latte without a straw and without stirring it. It was less sweet than I expected, and the topping added more nuttiness. I wondered if it was black sesame, but I could not confirm the exact ingredient.

How was the chestnut tiramisu?

I also had the chestnut tiramisu with the MIMI Cream Latte. Desserts with chestnuts have felt especially delicious to me lately, and I was glad I ordered this one too. On this visit, the chestnut tiramisu with the nutty latte stayed with me.
