Dangjin café with terrace and cream latte: Mimi Coffee Bangatgan

While traveling in Dangjin, I was looking for a café with a slightly different atmosphere and stopped by Mimi Coffee Bangatgan (미미커피방앗간) in Sunseong-myeon. The space was larger than I expected, and the menu was varied. I ordered the signature Mimi Cream Latte, along with a fresh strawberry latte and desserts.

Where is it, and is parking convenient?

Mimi Coffee Bangatgan is at 1064 Nambu-ro, Sunseong-myeon, Dangjin-si, Chungcheongnam-do. The hours listed in the original post are 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily, with last orders at 8:00 PM. Pets are not allowed.

There was a spacious parking area directly in front of the café. I could park and walk straight in, which made it convenient to stop by while traveling around Dangjin by car.

What are the outdoor terrace and interior like?

The surroundings were fairly quiet, and the café building was quite large. Its exterior had an atmosphere that brought to mind a mill, fitting its name.

The outdoor terrace had tables and looked like a nice place to enjoy coffee and dessert in an outdoor drinking atmosphere. There was also a covered outdoor area. I thought it would have a pleasant atmosphere in the evening or on a rainy day, though I did not use it at those times or in that weather. Smoking and pets are not allowed outdoors.

Inside, there were tables in several styles, and the space felt roomy enough to sit comfortably. Old-fashioned props placed around the café also made it fun to look around. It seemed like a decent place to take a break with friends or family during a Dangjin trip.

How sweet were the Mimi Cream Latte and strawberry latte?

The cream on top of the Mimi Cream Latte was sweet, while the coffee underneath had bitterness. The two flavors were distinct when tasted separately, but blended naturally together. I thought the cream might make it overly sweet, but the coffee’s slight bitterness supported it well, creating a good balance.

The fresh strawberry latte had a pronounced taste of condensed milk along with fresh strawberry. It was sweeter than tangy. I like sweet flavors, so I enjoyed it.

How were the gelato, chocolate cake, and dalgona?

The Dangjin Hopung sweet potato gelato tasted like sweet potato latte. Its distinct sweet-potato sweetness seemed likely to suit people who enjoy sweet potatoes.

The macaron had a chewy outer layer and was sweet.

Rather than being dense and intensely rich, the dark chocolate cake was soft like a typical cake. Its chocolate flavor went well with coffee.

Despite its name, it did not have a strong dark-chocolate character and was closer to a sweet chocolate cake. However, bits of chocolate in the middle were occasionally slightly bitter, so it was not sweet all the way through.

The nostalgic dalgona (Korean sugar candy) had its characteristic sweetness. It was not as hard as I expected, so it was easy to eat. The drinks and desserts I had this time were generally on the sweet side.

What kind of Dangjin trip is this café good for?

It was a good place to stop if you are traveling by car and looking for a spacious café to rest in. The interior with old props and the outdoor terrace stayed with me, and I liked the Mimi Cream Latte for its mix of sweet cream and bitter coffee. If you enjoy strongly sweet drinks and desserts, choosing from the menu may also be fun.
