Wondang bakery café solo after work: mango ade & onion bread, Baedagol
In short
Baedagol Bakery House (배다골베이커리하우스) is a large two-story bakery café with a garden in Wondang, Deogyang-gu, Goyang. After finishing work on a weekday, the writer went to Baedagol Bakery House alone and ordered a fresh mango ade, an onion scallion cream bread (onion bread), a Heungguk sweet pumpkin loaf and a salt bread, then packed the leftover bread in take-away bags from the self bar. The verdict: the fresh mango ade with the onion scallion cream bread is a pairing worth trying at Baedagol Bakery House.

What kind of café is Baedagol Bakery House?
Baedagol Bakery House is a bakery café in Wondang, Goyang. I heard it sells healthy, tasty bread plus desserts and drinks made with seasonal fruit, so I went to see for myself!

Is parking easy at Baedagol Bakery House?
There's room for 10 cars in front of the café, and when that's full there are second and third lots, so you can come without worrying about parking! The lot across the road looked like it could hold 50+ cars.
It even has an EV charging station, so it's a really big lot and you can relax, haha.
On the way from the parking lot to the café, trumpet creeper flowers (so perfect for summer) were in full bloom, already a great photo spot.
Exterior, garden, and news of branches 2 and 3
The exterior of Baedagol Bakery House, full of seasonal flowers, was so pretty. The garden looked far better in person than in the many review photos I'd seen. I'll cover the garden in detail below, after the café intro!
I also read a bit about the history of Baedagol (it means "village where boats dock"), and learned about the recently opened second branch. A third chapter is starting soon too. The building going up behind the parking lot is still under construction but already so pretty. I definitely want to visit the second branch soon, and the third once it's finished..!
If you like flowers that bloom around this time of year, do stop by. There's shade, so sitting at the outdoor seats was really comfortable, as I remember.
If it's hot, they lend fans for free, so you could ask at the counter. Take a look at the usage notice near the entrance too.
They also sell goods printed with the Baedagol Bakery House logo, just so you know.

How to pick your bread, and the self bar
At Baedagol Bakery House you take a tray and choose your bread yourself! Each loaf is huge to begin with, and there's so much variety that choosing takes forever. They also sell cakes and drinks just for kids, so bring out your own tastes.

Trays are on the right of the showcase and tableware is on the left, so just take what you need. Past the arched door, the women's restroom is on the left, and further on is the 1st-floor eating area. In front of the arched door there was a small self bar.

The self bar had water and tissues, plus a mini oven so you can warm up your bread! They also keep plastic gloves and take-away bags so you can bring leftover bread home, which I found impressive!

The women's restroom is on the 1st floor and the men's on the 2nd! In front of the 1st-floor women's restroom there's a kids' chair and spare chairs, so use them if you need to.
What discounts and events does Baedagol Bakery House have?
Baedagol Bakery House has a discount for soldiers, firefighters, police officers and cleaning workers, plus a birthday event, so there are really lots of ways to take part. None of those apply to you? You can still get a perk by joining the review event!

Drink menu and the seasonal fresh mango menu
The drink menu is wide too, with coffee, tea, lattes, smoothies and more, so everyone from kids to adults can find something. They use specialty beans for coffee that's rich and fragrant.

Mango is in full swing everywhere right now! You can find it at Baedagol Bakery House too! I love that they make drinks with seasonal ingredients, so the menu can change from season to season. Right at the entrance there's a fridge just for mangoes, which gave a different kind of freshness. There are drinks, bingsu (shaved ice) and cakes made only with fresh mango, so I hope you'll try them!!

Indoor atmosphere and seating
Both the 1st and 2nd floors have big windows, so the café gets lots of natural light! Even on a weekday lunch it was full of customers.
The chairs and tables are both comfortable, so conversation flowed, and I liked the phrase written on the tables. Maybe that's why the customers ranged from their 20s to 60s and over, which felt special!
It's a two-story café, so there are stairs, and there are flowers around the stairs too, nice to look at as you go up.

What I ordered alone: fresh mango ade and 3 breads
Finally, my fresh mango ade, Heungguk sweet pumpkin loaf, onion bread and salt bread arrived. It was my first solo café trip after work in a while, and there was just so much bread I wanted to eat, you guys T_T haha

How is the onion scallion cream bread (onion bread)?
I tried the onion scallion cream bread first, as a meal replacement. It looks like a bagel, but it has cracks and is super crisp. The texture was great, and the onion cream was really delicious.. sweet, and the chewy scallions cut through the richness T_T If you eat this somewhere that does it badly, it's an instant fail, so I hope everyone tries this bread..!!

Remember I said the bread is huge!! After one onion bread I was full right away, so I couldn't eat the other two on the spot, haha. So I put them in a take-away bag and brought them home, hehe.

How was the fresh mango ade?
The mango ade!!! Doesn't it look amazing!! It was so hot that I craved a cold ade, and the mango syrup itself was super rich and the fizz had a real kick, so I truly cooled off here, haha. It's real fresh mango, so I scooped some up and ate it right away T_T It was perfectly ripe too, sweet and soft~~ It honestly looked so powerful, hahaha.
The Baedagol Bakery House garden and kids' sand play
In front of Baedagol Bakery House there's a wide garden that my mom and dad would have loved. My favorite summer flower, the hydrangea, was just starting to bloom, so it feels like the place will be even brighter in midsummer.
There are parasols, so you're not in direct sunlight, haha. There's also sand play that kids will love, so you could settle nearby and spend your own free time however you like.
Check the banner that sums up all the events mentioned above, and enjoy the perks!

The Heungguk sweet pumpkin loaf I took home
I've been slicing up the bread I took home and eating it in portions, and the Heungguk sweet pumpkin loaf is great as a meal replacement. It's not too sweet and it's chewy, so I'd give the texture full marks too, haha. Try Baedagol Bakery House as a weekend outing or a drive!><
