As you can tell from the photos, the interior was very spacious and clean, with plenty of tables, so even on weekends or peak mealtimes you could probably walk right in without waiting~ The place was genuinely huge. Also, despite being a sashimi restaurant, there was no fishy smell at all — the atmosphere was casual yet lively, making it great not just for a meal but also for gatherings with friends, family, or coworkers.

What's on the free self-serve bar, including kimchi pancake?
Here's the self-serve bar at Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Yeonsu Branch. As you can see, the self-serve bar was neatly stocked with lettuce, perilla leaves, instant noodle add-ins, pickled radish, pickled ginger, salad, salad dressing, kimchi, garlic, chili peppers, ssamjang (dipping sauce), wasabi, self-serve pancake batter, coffee, ice cream and more — so guests could help themselves freely!

The self-serve kimchi pancake batter at the bar! Just pour oil in the pan, add the batter, and you're done. Easy, right? Even kitchen novices, don't worry~ 😘
The sizzling sound of kimchi pancake cooking is always so satisfying ><💘

There's also a nice selection for dessert — black coffee, milk coffee, ice cream and more — so if you've finished your meal, make sure to grab something sweet too!

Kimchi pancake, lettuce, perilla leaves, chili peppers, garlic, pickled radish, pickled ginger, and salt-sesame oil dip — all from the self-serve bar!! The bar was so well-stocked and everything was fresh, which made it even better~ The vegetables in particular were really fresh.
Let's try the kimchi pancake first! At other places you usually have to pay extra for kimchi pancake, but here at Veteran General Fish Market it's free, which made it easy to enjoy without a second thought 💕

What comes in the 33,800-won lunch sashimi set (Sun) for two
- Raw shrimp sashimi (mini) — ₩25,000
- Lunch special sashimi set (Sun) for two — ₩33,800
- Coca-Cola Zero — ₩2,000

Isn't this exactly what people mean by "the table's about to collapse"? We ordered the lunch special sashimi set and the mini raw shrimp sashimi, and it turned out to be an insanely generous spread — can you believe all of this comes to around 50,000 won total? Seriously top-tier value~ 😘

✅Lunch special sashimi set (Sun) for two — ₩33,800. Salad, sashimi salad, pollock roe, tempura, corn mayo, grilled saury, makjang (dipping sauce), sashimi, sushi, spicy fish stew, and albap (egg-topped rice)... All of this for just ₩16,900 per person as the lunch special sashimi set — that's seriously generous! I visited during lunchtime, and sashimi restaurants are usually empty then, but more than half the tables were full — turns out everyone was there for the lunch special set. Getting such high-quality food this generously at such a low price... you'd definitely become a regular after just one visit.
Let's start with the tempura! It was crispy outside and moist inside — the tempura quality was impressively good for something that comes with a set. It included shrimp, sweet potato and pumpkin, offering good variety, and the pieces were large — perfect as a side. They really know how to fry!
When I was little and went to sashimi restaurants with my parents, I never touched the sashimi and just ate all the corn-mayo side dish served on the hot plate — seeing it again brought back such nostalgia~ Sweet and great as a drinking snack, and served on a hot plate so it stayed warm till the end.
The grilled saury was also salty and tasty with zero fishy smell, making it great both as a side dish with rice and as a drinking snack! The flesh was so plump~🐟💙

The sushi came with 2 pieces each of shrimp and salmon per person, and both the vinegared rice and the sashimi were fresh and delicious. It was good enough that you could order the sushi on its own 🍣
Since the set price was on the lower side, I expected the sashimi portion to be small, but it was generous enough to pass for a regular restaurant's mini size — and it wasn't just one type, but a nice variety~😘

Since it's a fish-market-style restaurant with high turnover, the live fish in the tanks stayed fresh, and the sashimi had a firm, chewy texture that made it really enjoyable. The slices were also thick and had a natural sweetness.
Dipped in chojang (vinegar-chili sauce), delicious. Dipped in makjang, delicious. Wrapped in perilla leaves or lettuce, delicious!! With sashimi this good, it's tasty no matter how you eat it — fresh and chewy, seriously good 💕
Mini raw shrimp sashimi, 25,000 won with fried shrimp heads
✅Raw shrimp sashimi (mini) — ₩25,000. This is the raw shrimp sashimi I've been obsessed with lately. What I loved about Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Yeonsu Branch is that they sell raw shrimp sashimi by size — mini, small, medium and so on!! We ordered the lunch special and got the mini raw shrimp sashimi, and honestly, if they hadn't told us it was the mini size, we wouldn't have guessed — the portion was that generous~ It even came with head tempura 💚
Grilled shrimp is great too, but raw shrimp sashimi — which you can only enjoy when it's absolutely fresh — has a savory sweetness that fills your mouth the more you chew, with a texture that's soft and slightly sticky on the outside, then pops firm and springy when you bite in. Truly appealing! There wasn't a hint of fishiness, and the shell was already peeled so it was easy to eat~ It also came with flying fish roe, adding a great extra texture haha. Raw shrimp sashimi is a must-try here.
At places that don't know how to make it well, head tempura just tastes fishy, but Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Yeonsu Branch's version — maybe fried in butter? — was nutty and crispy, a real treat~~ This would go great as a drinking snack!

Salmon maeuntang and albap included with the set
After sashimi, grilled saury, tempura, sushi, raw shrimp sashimi, and corn mayo on the hot plate, you've got to finish it off with some spicy stew~~ We didn't order this separately — it was included in the lunch special — but is this pot size for real? You'd believe it if we told you we ordered it on its own, it came out that huge!
I've had rockfish and flounder spicy stew before, but this was my first time trying salmon spicy stew — unlike a typical white-fish stew, the broth had a rich, deep flavor that was really appealing!! It was packed with flesh, and rich, oily and spicy all at once — a great way to finish the meal~ There are instant noodles available at the self-serve bar, so if your stomach allows, add some in... We were way too full to manage that ourselves — the portion was seriously huge!
If it had been evening, I would've had a beer, but since it was lunch, I went with zero-sugar cola instead~ Having zero cola available made Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Yeonsu Branch even more satisfying 🍀

You thought that was it? Right when I thought I truly couldn't eat another bite, out came the albap (egg-topped rice). Each person gets their own bowl, seasoned just right, and since it's served in a stone pot, the rice at the bottom turns crispy and nutty like scorched rice — genuinely delicious... I was clearly full, but there I was eating the albap anyway — proof that there's always room for more, no matter how full you are. Albap was the best!
Another delicious, filling meal today!!
