While looking for a place to eat dinner in Gyodong, I visited Uldong Bossam! This time I had the small bossam (보쌈, boiled pork wrap) set along with rice. It's not just meat that comes out — you get various side dishes, wrap vegetables, and even a hot pot, so I ended up taking a photo of the whole spread first.
For anyone searching for good restaurants near Dongseong-ro and considering bossam as an option, let me walk you through what I ordered and what the space is like.

What's the exterior and atmosphere like at Uldong Bossam?
The exterior of Uldong Bossam combines brick and wood framing. A sign reading 'Uldong Bossam' hangs above the entrance, with potted plants placed out front.
In the evening, the sign and entrance lighting turn on, giving the exterior photos a warm feel.

Stepping inside Uldong Bossam, wooden tables and chairs, plus an East Asian-style painting on the wall, catch your eye. The bright walls are paired with wood-toned furniture.

Table seating and bar seating
There's also a long bar-style seating area in front of the kitchen at Uldong Bossam. It's a mix of group tables and side-by-side bar seats.
On one shelf in the store, liquor bottles and glasses are displayed, with aprons hanging nearby too. There's a separate area with paper cups and a drink dispenser, which I also photographed.

These little touches add some fun to exploring the space of a bossam restaurant.

What did I order at Uldong Bossam?
You can order via table order right at your seat at Uldong Bossam. This time I ordered the small bossam set, two bowls of rice, and two zero-sugar colas.

What are the side dishes like at Uldong Bossam?
Uldong Bossam's side dishes served first were already varied. Pickled onions, white kimchi, seasoned bean sprouts, green namul, and various kimchi come out divided into small bowls.

With garlic, salted shrimp, ssamjang, and sauce all added, there are several options to pair with a single piece of bossam.

The side dishes at Uldong Bossam are homemade and apparently change slightly by season. I photographed what was served that day, so hopefully it's useful as a reference when you visit.

The wrap vegetable plate
The wrap vegetables also come on a separate plate. Lettuce, perilla leaf, napa cabbage, and onion are laid out neatly so you can build a wrap to your taste.
Sesame soy sauce ground in a mortar
There was one part of this table setting I even recorded on video — grinding sesame in a small mortar and pouring soy sauce over it!

After grinding sesame inside the mortar and pouring in soy sauce, it becomes a dipping sauce for the bossam. Since the sauce is mixed with ground sesame, some of it clings to the meat as you dip it — I got a photo of that too. Besides the salted shrimp or ssamjang, this is one more sauce to pair with the meat.
How does the small bossam set at Uldong Bossam come out?
The small bossam set at Uldong Bossam arrived on a long plate. Next to the meat were red julienned radish, green vegetables, and white radish slices.

The sliced meat shows layers of lean meat and fat, and the ratio seemed to differ slightly by cut. I photographed both the full plate and a single piece picked up.
Combining bossam with rice, lettuce, and napa cabbage
This time I placed bossam and radish shreds on top of a bowl of rice. It's a combination that brings rice, meat, and accompaniments together in one bite — a different way of eating than the wrap.

On lettuce, I placed bossam, garlic, and radish shreds; on napa cabbage, meat and sauce — and I photographed each combination separately.

Even with the same bossam, the bite changes depending on what you top it with, so it made for good variety to show. Adding a photo of green vegetables picked up together with the meat let me cover the accompaniments without missing any.

The doenjang jjigae hot pot served alongside
The doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) hot pot that came with the Uldong Bossam table setting can't be left out either. Vegetables and meat sat in the reddish broth, and scooping with a spoon revealed meat as well.

With the bossam plate, side dishes, rice, and soup all laid out together, the full meal came together.

Are there other menu items besides bossam at Uldong Bossam?
Uldong Bossam's store signage also lists a bossam full set and a boiled pork hot pot. If you've been curious what other menu items are available besides bossam, it's worth checking these out when you order.

This record of my Gyodong dinner visit wraps up with a bossam evening at Uldong Bossam, complete with an array of side dishes and wrap vegetables alongside the small bossam set. If you've been looking for good restaurants near Dongseong-ro or a bossam restaurant in Daegu, take Uldong Bossam's atmosphere and this order into consideration!
