A weekend afternoon spent slowly enjoying brunch in a lovely space

Where is Mild High Club Apgujeong Branch, and what is the vibe?
Mild High Club Apgujeong Branch sits in an alley on Eonju-ro 170-gil, about 500 m from Exit 5 of Apgujeong Rodeo Station. I went for brunch with a friend in the daytime. It's walkable from the station, so getting there was easy, and as you stroll down the alley you spot a place whose front is wide open.

On nice days the whole front of the shop is thrown open, so even sitting inside I never felt stuffy. It feels naturally connected to the outdoors, which makes it especially good for a daytime visit.

Wood-toned tables and a long bar, roomier than expected
Once inside, the space was bigger than I'd imagined. Wood-toned furniture, with tables and chairs of different designs, blended together nicely, and one side had a long bar counter.

Sunlight came in well by the windows, so the whole place felt bright and comfortable. It's a great mood for an Apgujeong brunch in the daytime, and with a separate bar area it looked like it would have a totally different feel in the evening.

What did we order for two, and how much was it?
You order by QR code from your seat. The two of us ordered clam chowder with focaccia, an aioli chicken open sandwich and clam vongole, and the total came to ₩56,000.
- Clam chowder with focaccia ₩14,000
- Aioli chicken open sandwich ₩19,000
- Clam vongole ₩23,000
- Total ₩56,000

There were two of us, so we ordered a nice spread of three: soup, an open sandwich and pasta.

How is the aioli chicken open sandwich?
The aioli chicken open sandwich (₩19,000) has arugula and chicken generously piled on focaccia, and it was the first of the three plates to catch my eye. The arugula and chicken were heaped on quite generously, and cheese was grated on top in a big shower, so it looked delicious from the start.

The chicken came in bite-size pieces, so it was easy to cut up together with the bread.
The nutty aioli and salty chicken, plus the fresh taste of the arugula, made a well-matched combination. I added the sauce that came on the side here and there, so even within one plate the flavor shifted a little each time.

What style is the clam chowder with focaccia?
The clam chowder with focaccia (₩14,000) at Mild High Club is a rich, creamy soup served with bread. The chowder looked thick and creamy just from the way it appeared.
One spoonful was smooth yet quite thick, and with bits and pieces inside, it was more filling than I expected.

The focaccia served alongside is fine on its own, but I liked dunking it deep into the chowder far more. The bread soaks up the rich chowder and turns nutty and soft, so I kept reaching for more.

Ordering the open sandwich and the clam chowder together really felt like a proper brunch lineup. If you want to try several Apgujeong brunch dishes, it's a good combination to share between two.

Is the clam vongole too heavy?
The clam vongole (₩23,000) at Mild High Club is oil-based but not overly heavy or greasy. Clams were generously arranged along the edge of the plate, so it looked hearty the moment it arrived, and the savory depth from the clams blended naturally into the sauce.

Eating the noodles together with the clams added the springy texture of the clam meat, and a little sauce stayed pooled on the plate, so it stayed moist right to the end. The sandwich and chowder are on the nutty, heavy side, so having bites of the vongole in between made the combination work well.

Three dishes for two: how was it as a daytime meetup in Apgujeong?
Three dishes at Mild High Club Apgujeong Branch were quite filling for two. Personally, I liked ordering a bit of everything, soup and pasta included, and tasting it together more than getting by on a single sandwich.
Above all, I loved the atmosphere of the wide-open front. Sunlight comes in naturally during the day and the whole place feels open, so it was easy to eat slowly and chat with my friend.
If you have a daytime plan in Apgujeong, or can't decide between a meal and a café, it's a good Apgujeong brunch spot to stop by. The food wasn't stuck on one type, so it was fun to pick and share, and next time I'd like to try other brunch dishes too.
